The film has its weak spots, sure, but let’s talk about the absolute weakest link: Hemsworth.
He just doesn't fit the vibe of a movie like this at all... showing up with an unbuttoned shirt and that overly manicured, model-esque torso.🤦😵🙂
Maybe that would work in some cheap teen superhero trash, but in a film of this caliber? Absolutely not.👎
A total casting disaster...
His character finally shows up in the third act, right when he should be stepping up, dominating the screen with sheer presence and personality. But Hemsworth can't do it because he simply doesn't have it! All he's got are those sculpted, shaved pectorals... and that doesn't fly in a movie like this! It's bad.
They should have gone with someone charismatic, raw, frustrated... maybe even a bit of an ugly anti-hero.☕

The film actually had potential... I mean, honestly, when was the last time I saw production design this good?🙏🙏

I went into this with massive expectations because, let’s face it, we’re talking about a film directed by Drew Goddard.

But those expectations hit a brick wall during that one major SPOILER scene where Jon Hamm bursts into the room with those weird sisters. That moment felt completely disconnected from the actual plot and had zero impact on his character development.

And honestly? You see similar lapses in logic and character consistency with several other people throughout the movie.

At the end of the day, it was an alright way to kill two hours, I guess, but the core story had enough potential to be something truly special. Such a missed opportunity.

There were a few hiccups here and there, but my biggest issue was definitely Hemsworth. If they’d cast someone more suited for the part, this would have been an absolute knockout.

Because of him, it falls a little short, but I’d still say check it out. If I can just overlook his performance, the film is definitely worth your time and I had a blast watching it. 😁

Cynthia Erivo was incredible 👍

In theory, it was a great concept, and with everyone involved, it felt like it had real legs... but man, what a letdown. About halfway through, I just completely checked out. I found myself just sitting there, waiting to see how they’d wrap it all up, feeling totally numb and unable to actually care about any of the characters. And that’s a huge red flag for me. Such a massive waste of potential...
