Screen flickering when closing lid on Dell Latitude

Hey everyone, I've got this Dell Latitude and whenever I close the lid, the screen starts throwing out these green and pink pixels. It’s super weird—it actually depends on what's being displayed; if there's black on the screen, you see green lines, and if it's white, they turn pink.

The thing is, once I open it back up, it's totally fine, and it doesn't act up at all while I'm actually working. But honestly? I'm terrified the whole thing is just gonna die on me soon. Could this be a faulty ribbon cable that needs swapping out? The graphics are integrated, running an i5 3210m processor. Thanks!

He’s probably given everything he's got left in the tank. You might want to check in with tech support, but honestly? Between the parts and the labor, you're likely looking at a repair bill that costs more than the damn thing is actually worth.

The screen? That's weird. It’s been working perfectly fine for the last 4 or 5 hours—no pixel issues at all, whether I’m moving the display or just letting it sit still. I’ve only had this laptop for two weeks and this just started happening today.

I mean, why would the screen be broken if everything looks totally normal until I tilt it one way? Sure enough, as soon as I move it, those pixels pop up, and then a second later, everything is back to being fine. To me, that sounds more like a loose cable issue, right?

Otherwise, the laptop is basically mint. You can tell it hasn't seen much action. Even though it's a 2012 model, the battery still holds up for over 3 hours.

Yeah, but what does any of that have to do with my actual issue? You're telling me squeezing the screen is supposed to fix it? Look, this was happening ONLY when I was opening or closing the lid, not while I was actually working. In the video you posted, the screen stays like that the whole time. My screen is behaving perfectly fine today, just like it always has. I don't get the logic here—how can the problem be the display itself and not the cable if it only acts up during the physical movement of folding it? On top of that, this thing only glitched once every two weeks, even though I’m running it for 7 or 8 hours a day and opening/closing it at least 7 times daily. 🙂

I'm just asking, please don't take this the wrong way, but none of this makes any sense to me.
