Issues with Google Chrome

So, a while back, Chromium just showed up on my PC out of nowhere.
I barely managed to scrub it, delete it, uninstall it... the whole nine yards.

But now Google Chrome is being a total nightmare. It mostly just freezes up, then keeps running in the background, and I can't kill it—even though there’s zero sign of it in the Task Manager.

Tried a clean reinstall, but nope, same exact issue.

I exported my bookmarks and tried importing them into Vivaldi, but it automatically detects the path, so it won't let me do a manual file import at all...

And it won't even let me do the automatic import because it claims Google Chrome is still running—which is a joke, since it isn't open and it’s nowhere to be found in the Task Manager.

Anyone else dealing with this garbage with CHROME? Those bookmarks are huge for me and I need to move them to another browser, but ideally, I just want to fix Google Chrome itself since I rely on certain extensions.

Advice?

Could you elaborate a bit on how Chromium appeared on its own? What were you doing right before that happened (or are you sharing this computer with someone else?) Also, when you try to shut down Google Chrome, could you send over a screenshot of your Task Manager so we can see what's actually happening?

As for Vivaldi, it handles HTML bookmark imports without any trouble. You just have to select the correct file type from the dropdown menu. Here is a picture of what that looks like.

For a clean uninstallation, I'd suggest using the free Geek Uninstaller; it does a decent job of scrubbing all those leftover files. You can grab it at geekuninstaller.com.
