Laptop issues

I’m not entirely sure if this is the right place to vent, but I am having a massive headache with my laptop and I feel completely stuck... Basically, yesterday evening things just started acting weird; my desktop icons were all skewed and most of my windows looked totally distorted. After some digging, I realized I had two Intel(r) HD graphics 5 drivers active, so I tried disabling one of them thinking that was the culprit, but man, was I wrong. Now, I can't even get into Windows 7. It gets to the Windows startup screen and just hangs there indefinitely. It actually tried to run through the Channing disk repair process a couple of times, but then it just throws an error message along the lines of "no program found" or something similar... I've spent all last night and basically this entire day scouring the internet for fixes—trying things like messing with the BIOS and attempting Safe Mode—but nothing seems to touch the problem. Sometimes I can hear the hardware running, but the screen stays completely black. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on?
It's an HP, about a year and a half old, though I've only had it for about a year myself.

If I could just manage to log in, I think I could fix everything from the inside... But honestly, I'm terrified—is there any chance my files will be wiped out? I'm really worried because I can't back them up to a USB drive or anything else right now, and I have a lot of really important documents sitting on there...

If I end up taking this to a repair shop, is a full reinstallation absolutely necessary??

Seriously, any bit of advice or even just a suggestion would mean the world to me right now...

Just plug your drive into another PC and back up everything, or just reinstall Windows without wiping your files.

But how am I even supposed to get into the computer in the first place? I'm worried I won't even be able to boot up enough to make that happen...

Grab a Linux live CD on another computer and boot the laptop from that. Copy everything you need onto a USB drive and then just take it to a repair shop 🙂

Okay, if I'm following you correctly, I would be able to access all my data through that other laptop and then transfer everything over to a USB stick...
