I haven't been able to find any clear answers on this thread, so I’m reaching out here for some guidance.
How much does this diagnosis actually impact one's professional capacity, specifically regarding which career paths might be blocked?
I was diagnosed about three years ago, and since then, I have stayed consistent with my medication and psychotherapy, which allows me to function quite normally. When I do face challenges, they primarily manifest as bouts of depression or anxiety. My psychiatrist has noted that my case is relatively mild and shouldn't impose any significant restrictions on my life.
I actually hold two different qualifications—one as a registered nurse and another in administrative law. To date, I have worked in both fields without facing any hurdles; in fact, I consider myself a very efficient and dedicated employee.
In my previous roles, no employer has ever requested a formal health clearance, but I’ve noticed lately that these assessments seem to be becoming standard practice almost everywhere.
I would truly appreciate it if someone with experience could clarify this for me: will I encounter real obstacles when applying for jobs, or is it more of an individualized assessment where decisions are made on a case-by-case basis?
