I need some help here!! πŸ™

image

I’ve only got Google Chrome open and look at how much RAM this thing is eating up!!! 😲
I added a 2 GB stick... so I'm at 4 GB total now. Running Windows 8.1 64-bit!! πŸ™
Why is it using an extra 800 MB for the exact same stuff?? πŸ”
Tried swapping out a 1 GB stick for another one... it was pulling 1.2 GB with all the same tabs open!! 😲 Then I put the full 4 GB back in, ran a restore session, and it dropped back to 2 GB!! How does that even work??? 😒(((
Is my hardware busted?? 😒(((
THANKS!! πŸ™

Basically, if you have more RAM, you should put it to use. 🀷

Web browsers are notorious resource hogsβ€”the more tabs you leave open, the more memory they eat up. That’s just how it works.
For instance, when I'm running Pale Moon on Windows 7 with a bunch of tabs open (like several PDFs and Word docs), I'm seeing upwards of 1.7GB of usage.

You might also want to dig into your Task Manager to clear out any junk processes. Plus, you can type "msconfig" into the Windows search bar, head over to the Startup tab, and check if there's anything running there that shouldn't be, aside from your antivirus and basic drivers like your graphics card or mouse software.

I know, but it's still strange seeing such a massive difference with the exact same stuff open 🀷
I just restored the session I had before 😒 (( 🀷
