Okay, seriously though. I’m asking the mods to please take a look at the clone topics running wild on here. These people are just walking all over everyone else with how they act. I’ve looked back at my own posts, and honestly, I know I’m not the one causing trouble for others. But someone who’s running a whole fleet of clones—people who don't follow a single rule and have been kicked out of multiple subforums—really needs to be dealt with properly.
To be specific, on the off threads, there's this user who started a thread under an active account (so she isn't banned), but then she's posting everything under a completely different handle. It's super confusing.

As a long-time member who’s never really had any issues with moderation, I’m asking you guys to actually penalize these clone stunts. If you do, you're showing support for the rest of us who play by the rules. If you do nothing, you're basically telling everyone that being a clone is totally fine on this site.
I stumbled upon a thread today that shocked me because this person actually had the nerve to complain about something while acting as a clone.

I'm totally with the mods on this one. I feel for you guys when people like her start targeting you. I know how much it sucks.

As someone who's been around here a long time and has never had a problem with the mods, I’m asking you to step in and penalize these clone antics. Doing this would show support for those of us playing by the rules. If nothing is done, you’re basically telling everyone that running clones is just business as usual here.

I should mention that these are just a tiny fraction of the clones out there. There are way more. These are just a few examples.

Until someone from the Offtopic management team steps up, I’d like to point out two things:
- First, simply maintaining multiple accounts isn't against the rules; what's forbidden is operating them simultaneously to create confusion among the community.
- Second, while I truly appreciate the effort people put in to assist the moderators, pointing out profile links doesn't automatically prove someone is running a clone account. Ultimately, the determination of whether an account is an unauthorized clone rests solely with the moderator.

If we were to ban every single user that another member flagged as a clone, there would be thousands more bans on the books than there are currently.

Go ahead and look. Look, it's on you guys to verify this since you have the access. I don't care who says who is a clone; I stated she is one, and everything I mentioned above still stands. If you actually value my input (which it feels like you don't), then don't try to argue with facts before checking them. She's a clone, a serious one, and she's causing trouble across multiple threads. Or did you even read the thread where she's straight-up attacking even your own colleagues?
northernpilot2 is a good guy, but the truth is he hasn't dealt with the Offtopic section for a while now. 😉
Bottom line is, if there's a will, there's a way. Just show some initiative and fix the unacceptable behavior on this forum. While you're at it, take a look at my profile; you'll see I'm definitely not someone struggling with the site rules.😉

I get what you mean, but they’re just getting annoying. Sorry if that sounded harsh—you can see why I feel that way by looking at this thread that went totally off the rails ages ago. Honestly, we don't even care about their accusations that everyone here is just a bunch of clones. They aren't the real issue; it's that one woman who keeps all us other idiots stuck in this endless cycle of cloning. I'm really hoping the mods can step up and fix this mess with some actual oversight.

Rachel Palmer56, look, if someone actually has a clone topic going on—or even if you just suspect they do—why on earth would you think I wouldn't be in the loop about it? I’m pretty much fully caught up on everything regarding that female user you linked.
One account is officially retired, while the other one was reactivated, and she gave me a heads-up right when it happened. I mean, sure, maybe there are some posts from two different handles on the same thread, but that didn't happen after I was notified that the first account was being put on ice. I don't see any evidence of her quoting herself or having some weird solo debate with herself or anything.

As far as any inappropriate behavior goes, feel free to just shoot those posts over to me or report them directly.

So you finally decided to show up and give us this big explanation (though I highly doubt you even read the off thread) (plus you haven't answered a single one of my DMs), but honestly, I just want to know why the rest of us were kept in the dark. Why was everyone else left feeling so confused?
Because you guys allow this impossible situation to happen, I, Rachel Palmer56, a long-time model member of this community, am officially out. Let the clone topics thrive, because I can't stick around in a place where the mods are basically protecting clones instead of actual people.

I actually took a look at your complaint yesterday, you know, really dug into whether that user was actually breaking any rules—like, I checked to see if she was just quoting herself or having those weird one-sided arguments with herself—and honestly, she wasn't doing anything against the rules. So, yeah, nothing to see here.

Look, calling the "Off" section "quoting off" or whatever is such a massive stretch, and obviously, I’m not monitoring every little thing there on a regular basis, mostly because that’s just not physically possible. The "Off" area is basically just a bunch of chat threads, and it’s impossible to keep tabs on everything happening in real-time; I pretty much just react when someone files a report or when there's an actual rule violation, like people being straight-up abusive or insulting each other. And honestly, you and everyone else who hangs out in the "Off" section know better than anyone how flexible I tend to be with how I interpret things there. If I stuck to the letter of the law like some absolute fanatic, I’d probably have shut down half your threads by now since everyone is constantly bending the rules under the excuse of "hey, we're just chilling in the lounge."

So, yeah, I don't really have much else to say about it.
At the end of the day, it's your call whether you want to stay a part of this community or not.🙂
