How to install Windows 10 Home

Hey experts, I could really use some help here. I picked up an official retail version of Windows 10 on a USB drive, but my old desktop is giving me nothing but grief. It’s running a Gigabyte 6-quad-s series motherboard, just 2 GB of RAM, a 3 GHz processor, and a 300 GB hard drive. Every single USB option I try in the boot menu fails—it just won't kick off the installation. I had a raw install of Windows 7 on there previously, so I wiped the C drive and reformatted it entirely, but I'm still hitting the same wall. I keep getting this "invalid partition table" error
What can I do to actually get this thing running? Or am I better off just installing a basic version of Windows XP first and then upgrading my hardware later to handle Windows 10? Thanks for any advice!

Is the version of Windows you got 32-bit or 64-bit? Same question applies to the processor, too...

How far does this installation actually go?
Is this version perhaps just an update for an older version of Windows? Who knows...

Try switching your BIOS settings over to the AHCI controller—then give it another shot booting from that USB drive..

Wait, where on earth did you pick that up?

Look, your best bet is probably just heading over to the Microsoft site to grab the official Windows 10 installer—the exact same version you bought—and then you can just activate it later using the key you received.

Wait, what exactly did you do right after you wiped and formatted that C drive?
