Hey,
My PC has been acting sluggish lately. Is it infected? Looking for a fix. Also, there's this weird thing: when I close my laptop, it goes into sleep mode, but if I leave it overnight, I wake up to these lines running across the top of the screen. It looks like the hard drive is spinning or something, and it shows up on the display. Tried taking a screenshot, but nothing shows up in the image. 🤔

The Extras log didn't generate for some reason... I used otl.exe

edit:
Just ran a scan with FRST. Here are the logs:

Come on, people, is nobody able to help? My computer is lagging so hard I can barely finish this sentence. Where is Goodness? That guy was awesome and has seriously bailed me out more than a few times.

Just snap a photo of those lines with your phone so I can see what we're dealing with.

Otherwise, maybe try running a cleanup with this tool http://www.iobit.com/en/advancedsystemcarefree.php—just check all the boxes, let the scan run, and then hit that "automatic fix" button at the bottom when it's done.

I did some digging myself—ran CCleaner to scrub some registry errors, then booted into Last Known Good Configuration, and those lines vanished. For now...
I'll give this tool a shot. Thanks for the help.

By the way, what happened to Goodness? They gone?

I don't know the guy personally—maybe try tracking down his profile and sliding into his DMs? Or, if he left an email floating around somewhere, just shoot him a message there... might be easier...

When those programs claim you're facing registry issues, it’s really just nothing more than cheap drama and self-promotion designed to sell you a solution. We are talking about certain data points—keys, values, and so on—that essentially serve no functional purpose and can be deleted without any consequence whatsoever. For instance, when you uninstall software on a PC, it often leaves behind these little registry keys intended to store specific settings for that application. It is quite similar to how leftover files tend to accumulate in your Windows Temp folders until they swell up to several hundred megabytes, at which point a disk cleanup utility sweeps them away. The logic is identical here, except that the entire registry is only about 20 to 30 MB in total size, and these stray keys occupy such a negligible amount of space—each being perhaps only a few dozen bytes on average—that there is simply no way they could possibly slow down your computer.
