I find myself having to convert video files—usually MP4 or MKV stuff—into AVI more often than I’d like just so my TV can actually play them, and honestly, I'm a little stumped by something here.
My conversion software shows three specific formats that my TV is supposedly compatible with: AVI, DivX, and Xvid.
I was wondering if anyone could walk me through what the actual deal is with these different formats, because when I'm sitting on my couch watching, I really can't tell any difference in picture quality on the screen.
The only thing that stands out to me is that whenever I try converting to Xvid, it feels like it takes twice as long to finish the job compared to the others.
