Need help with my router and ISP issues

To be perfectly honest, I finally snapped this morning and took a hammer to that old AT&T modem they issued me. It’s been driving me absolutely insane for months now; all the status lights stay lit, yet I’m left staring at a dead Wi-Fi signal and zero internet connectivity.

Anyway... I have this D-Link router sitting around that I picked up a few years back. When I plug it in, the internet actually works, but there’s a catch: the D-Link lacks that specific "phone in" port found on the AT&T unit, which means my landline is completely useless right now. I also have Xfinity service, though I haven't even bothered checking if that's functioning properly yet.

Does anyone know how I can wire this whole mess together so that my phone, my internet, and my Xfinity cable services all work simultaneously?

I’ve been scouring the web for replacement routers in the $100 to $500 range, but not a single one seems to feature a dedicated phone port. Should I just bite the bullet and call AT&T to demand a new gateway—assuming they don't give me grief when they see my smashed 🙂—or is there some clever way to bridge everything to this D-Link? I'm fairly certain the D-Link is a massive upgrade over whatever junk AT&T tries to pass off as hardware.

Comcast is going to hit you with a massive fee for that new router. You're better off just grabbing a different one on Craigslist.

If your router is more than two years old, you're entitled to a new one.
