Alright, look. I picked up a Samsung Galaxy Tab A and hooked it up to my PC via USB because I wanted to move some files over. Everything seems fine on the surface—the computer recognizes the device, the tablet shows it's in data transfer mode, and the PC pulls up the device name along with all its folders (though there are no actual files visible, just the directories). But here’s the catch: every single time I try to move files like PDFs or MP3s from my PC to the tablet, I get hit with this error: Cannot copy. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected. It just gives me the option to 'skip' or 'cancel.' The transfer fails every time. What am I missing here? Does anyone actually know what the issue is?

Transferring files from my tablet to my PC works just fine. The problem is going from the PC to the tablet—I keep getting that error message above. I’ve been digging through Google for a couple of hours trying to fix this, but I'm coming up empty. Windows recognizes the device as an MTP media device automatically and all the folders show up in the file explorer, but it won't let me copy a single damn file.
Is this even the right spot for this? Should I have posted this in the Android subforum instead?
I've already tried a few different alternatives to Windows Explorer, but nothing is working.

You're in the right spot if someone actually gives you an answer 😁

Maybe you'll have better luck on Android, so give that a shot. You should also cross-post this over to the Tablet section—there's a crowd there who might actually know what they're talking about. Honestly, nothing smart is coming to mind right now 😁

Is it possible you've got a compatibility issue? If that's the cable that came with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A, maybe it's running some lower USB standard that your PC just isn't picking up. They're supposed to be backwards compatible, but you can never really tell with this stuff. Also, did you test it with a basic file? Make sure you aren't trying to move some music or video file that has built-in DRM or some software protection you don't even know about. Who knows what kind of nonsense is baked into Windows these days...

Thanks for the input and the advice, darkowl72.

What if it’s just a compatibility issue? If we're talking about that specific Samsung Galaxy Tab A cable, maybe it's an older USB standard and the PC just isn't picking it up right?

Could be... but the device actually shows up as PMT3008_Wi_C and says 'internal storage'... I can see all the folders clearly.
I was only moving tiny PDF files and some MP3s. No video. And none of that stuff is DRM-protected, so that's not it.

I'll give it a shot on my other tablets too.

If you search Google for that specific error—"Cannot copy. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected"—you'll find a ton of people dealing with the exact same thing. The real headache is that there isn't one single fix that works for everyone.

We can only really suggest the usual troubleshooting steps;

1.) Try plugging the tablet directly into a USB port on your PC via cable—avoid using hubs or anything like that. If it's a desktop, try a port directly on the motherboard.
2.) Maybe try a different USB cable.
3.) You could try doing a factory reset on the device.
4.) If the tablet is running a custom ROM, you might need to revert back to the stock firmware (I think that's what they call it for tablets, I don't follow all this closely anymore).
5.) If there's an SD card in the tablet and you're trying to write data to it, try taking it out, cleaning it, and then resetting the device.

Here's some stuff I came across online;

Problem: Ever since version 4.1.2 at least, the phone/Android/obb folders have been write-protected when using an MTP connection.
Solution: Use MTP to copy the files to a different directory first. Then, on the phone itself, use any file explorer—even just "My Files"—to move them into the folder you actually want.

Personally, if you're using Android file transfer, I've found it to be pretty buggy and frustrating. I ended up switching to using FileZilla to move files over via FTP, which is more reliable. Someone else also mentioned AirDroid, which has a web UI, though I still prefer standard FTP.

George Sanders37, thanks for getting back to me and laying out those potential fixes.

I actually plugged "Cannot copy..." into Google and scoured a few forums where this specific issue pops up.
I’ve already tried several of the things you mentioned.

1) Tried it—still doing the exact same thing.
2) I only have that one single cable.
3) Already tried it—no change.
4) Not entirely sure what that entails, but I assume it means a factory reset.
5) There isn't an SD card inserted in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A.

Regarding that last point, I think I get what you mean, but the catch is I can't copy files into any folder at all; after the reset, I'm down to just five folders when I used to have about twenty.

I even gave FileZilla FTP a shot, but the tablet doesn't even show up on the network.

I posted the issue over in the tablet subforum too, just in case someone there has run into this before.

I mean, I get it... I’m dealing with the exact same headache on my own tablet. It’s got an 8GB SD card tucked in there, but the device just refuses to acknowledge its existence when it comes to storage—it won't transfer anything to it. Honestly, I can't even snap a photo without getting an error, and trying to update a few basic apps is a total lost cause because the internal memory is basically non-existent. I’ve already purged everything I possibly could, but it doesn't matter—I still can't update a single thing or move a song or a picture over because the device itself is just full. I can't even risk a factory reset, either—I'd lose all those custom SIM card settings they programmed in for this 3G tablet-phone combo.

So, it’s a safe bet you’re hitting the same wall—just a complete lack of internal space on the device.

No way. I literally just bought this tablet.

I tried following this guide:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/41583...ne-wirelessly/

After running a LAN scan, my PC shows up under the LAN section in ES File Explorer on the tablet. But here's the catch: when I tap the icon for my computer, it hits me with a prompt for a username and password. If it isn't the credentials from FileZilla, I have no clue what they're supposed to be. It won't accept anything. On top of that, the IP address is totally different from the one listed in FileZilla. I don't get it.

I used AirDroid to move some files from my PC over to my tablet. It works fine, but I’m looking to do this directly via a USB cable instead. I haven't found a fix on this forum yet... moving stuff from the tablet to the PC is easy, but going the other way is a total dead end—it won't let me save to any folder. I'll probably just hit up the shop where I picked up the device and see what they say.

Definitely try using a different cable—or maybe just test your current one on another device to see if that changes anything.
It’s probably not the cable itself (if it were, I guess you wouldn't be able to transfer data or charge the tablet at all), but honestly, weirder things have happened.

Can someone please help me out with an issue I'm having with my Fiskal 1 register?
So, while I was working, the tablet just totally froze up on me, and now, even after trying to reboot, the thing won't budge.
Every single time I try to power it back on, I see the Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" icon pop up, and then everything just stalls right there...
Every once in a while, I can actually hear this weird buzzing sound coming from the tablet during that loop.
Is there any way to fix this, or am I looking at buying a whole new device?
I'm trying to figure out if this is just some software glitch or if the hardware is officially toast.
If it's impossible or just too expensive to fix, is there any hope of saving the data off the old tablet so I can move it over to a new one of the same model?
Best,

I'm guessing you're talking about this company:
Since you bought the whole setup from them, I'd definitely suggest reaching out—maybe hit up their support team or a sales rep directly. They'll probably be your fastest bet for getting this sorted. It sounds like a hardware issue, which I guess is something you won't be able to fix yourself, especially when it comes to migrating data.

Especially since we're dealing with official IRS tax receipts here.
