Anyone got some solid recommendations for a desktop setup? Just looking for something basic for office work, running Microsoft Office, browsing the web... nothing crazy, just the essentials.
I'd really prefer something with a small footprint, ideally a horizontal case that can sit right under the monitor
Storage space isn't a big deal for me, honestly.

I also need to grab a keyboard, a mouse, and a monitor—something at least 22 inches.

Quick question though, when's the better time to shop? Like, is it smarter to buy stuff before or after Christmas?

My budget is pretty tight, $1000but hopefully it's enough to cover everything on this list.

Honestly, it doesn't matter much if you wait for sales at online retailers—they don't have much room to move since their base prices are already pretty low. Plus, with the dollar being so strong lately, and given that our local US suppliers tie their component pricing directly to it... yeah, just grab what you need sooner rather than later. Especially if you aren't doing anything crazy intensive with the rig.

Thanks for getting back to me

Do you think this CPU is actually enough to handle Windows 10 smoothly without it constantly freezing up while I'm running everything I mentioned? Or should I just bite the bullet and go for a beefier processor?

That processor looks pretty weak on paper, but I guess it’s more than enough for what you're trying to do. It's a little guy, sure, but paired with an SSD, your system should fly.
