Just to clear things up for anyone confused—the first one involves insults directed at a politician, while the second shows a moderator stating that "slurs against politicians" are subject to sanctions...

Really, I'm just trying to help out the mods—they have way too much on their plates to catch everything immediately, and it's been a few days now without any movement... nothing at all.

Or maybe I just totally misread the situation? 🤔

Using derogatory nicknames for politicians would be like someone calling Kamala Harris, say, Kermit or Piggy.

The post in question is just a legitimate opinion that any user has the right to share on the Forum.

Saying that someone is

"A Liar and a corrupt thief—Graber K. was elected to be the President of the USA."

...without providing any actual evidence to back it up... well, that runs counter to the moderators' stance that political claims like this need to be factually substantiated.

If you can't prove it, it isn't a truth—it's just an insult, not an opinion.

So, maybe you guys could coordinate a bit better...

An outburst directed at a regular user on the Forum would typically result in a sanction, but since this involves a public figure, the rules are applied differently—as they usually are.
That being said, if it offers you any consolation, the Politics moderation team is currently engaged in an active debate regarding the criteria for protecting public figures versus upholding the principle of free speech. While we aren't penalizing these kinds of comments just yet, it is entirely possible that our policy will shift. Should that happen, the new standard will apply equally to everyone in the public and political arena. Until then, we won't be making any special exceptions for the President.

Look, this is what gets under my skin about how things work here... why focus on who the target is instead of just looking at the behavior itself, regardless of who is being mentioned on this Forum?

For instance, earlier today I reported a post—can't even remember which thread anymore—where some user was calling someone a pig. It didn't matter to me who they were aiming at; it's against the rules here, whether that person is on the left or the right...

And the whole "what defines a public figure" thing? Politicians, sure, then actors, judges, athletes, TV personalities, doctors, lawyers... even firefighters and emergency responders. Are we really going to lump them all into one category?

Also, what does "which isn't really the case" even mean? You either have established Forum rules or you don't... there shouldn't be double standards. Because if we can call the President of our Beautiful America a Liar, then why can't we do the same to a completely anonymous user I've never heard of?

I will address only the final point, as everything else was covered in my previous response: you are a fellow forum member, and we have collectively decided to extend more courtesy to our peers than we do to public figures. It isn't that we are making an exception for the President; if anything, we are refusing to make one, despite the many fans who have attempted to demand such treatment.
I believe we have made ourselves clear on this matter.
