Man, things have gotten weird. All these metrosexual topics are popping up everywhere. We’re basically becoming bait for hipsters like flies on honey, and the UN description looks pretty bad right now ☕
Real talk only happens late at night anyway.

And look, even if you guys think the UN is acting crazy, there’s still supposed to be free speech. But free speech has its limits, right? It would be great if we could just wipe away posts that are clearly insulting Muslims, especially since even the UN hasn't been able to ignore those disgusting jabs lately.
Feminists and metrosexual types are just coming in here to troll and mess with us, trying to get us to lose our cool, but they aren't gonna win. 🧐

Anyway, thanks for listening! ☕

If you encounter a post on Reddit that you believe violates our community guidelines, please use the triangle icon to report it so we can conduct a thorough review.
Regrettably, we shall simply have to tolerate the presence of feminists and hipsters as an inevitable, albeit necessary, evil.

It isn't just about individual posts being removed—entire conversations are being wiped out 😕 threads are being shut down (often via emergency deletion) the moment they gain traction. It all traces back to that male version of the "bodies" thread—which, of course, had to be hosted here on Reddit because nobody else would touch it.
Lately, the moderators seem to be hovering over almost every thread, threatening people with bans—and not just anyone, mind you, but even members of the Council of Elders 🙄 while some long-term contributors are getting preferential treatment. Honestly, the atmosphere has become quite dismal compared to how things felt just six months ago.
Ignoring the elephant in the room won't make it disappear.
edit: I have a nagging feeling this very thread will be closed or deleted under the pretext that we've already covered this ground extensively and there's no point in rehashing it...

Honestly, I don't care how much you guys obsess over this stuff. All that nonsense about being stuck in the past is just temporary—you’ll all just have to hang in there for a few more years. We'll see how it plays out eventually.

Listen, everyone, I get that there’s some frustration brewing here, but if we want this to actually lead anywhere, you all need to stop being vague. If you want your grievances heard, you have to provide specifics—links, clear examples of what works versus what doesn't, and actual, actionable suggestions. Otherwise, this thread will simply be closed.

For those of us who have been following Dorian since the beginning, everything is perfectly clear—and if any supermoderators are keeping tabs on Dorian, I suspect they feel exactly the same way...

I mean, it would be a lot easier for everyone else—including me, I guess—if you guys just dropped some actual links and got straight to the point. Just throwing out these vague accusations without being specific... well, like Dorian was saying, we aren't really going to get anywhere with that approach.

To be precise, they are effectively sanctioning the very style of discourse that CNN has always been defined by—the exact reason people gravitate toward the platform in the first place. Even the mere suggestion that things might get a bit more heated prompts the moderators to step in; they're already brandishing warnings and scrubbing any posts that don't align with their specific sensibilities.
Consequently, sharing links is essentially prohibited, as topics, posts, and entire threads are routinely deleted or hidden...

Even just hinting that things might get a bit more intense triggers the moderators; they start throwing out warnings and deleting posts the second something doesn't fit their specific mood.
That’s why you can't even share links anymore—topics get wiped or hidden, and individual posts just vanish into thin air.

I was actually planning on saying the exact same thing as you, but you put it much better than I would have!
Spot on.

Even just hinting that things might get a bit heated makes the mods jump in with threats about bans and deleting posts whenever they feel like it.
That’s why you can’t even drop a link without trouble; threads just vanish or get hidden, and posts get nuked left and right.

Look, maybe give me an actual example of a thread where you think they're just deleting stuff for no reason? I can see some deleted posts in here myself, so I might as well take a look if you point me in the right direction.

In just three sentences.
You could have just told her to go mend some socks and fry up some eggs.
There was plenty of room for swearing.
And there weren't any metrosexuals or guys acting soft back then.

And finally... you gave this guy a standing ovation that any online community would be proud of, simply because he managed to troll everyone using those three points above.

I'm not about to go digging through old threads and dead links on a ghost town subreddit.

There you go.

Look, I think we all need to dial it back a little with this whole "faggots and metrosexuals, hipsters and feminists" rhetoric. Honestly, I’m not even sure if that’s some kind of inside joke you guys have going on or what exactly you think you're implying, but let's get one thing straight: unless someone has an actual bias or has been banned, nobody is off-limits from posting on any forum, including Mike's. If you actually mean what you're saying—if you’re genuinely upset about the presence of gay people or anyone who lives differently or thinks differently than you do—then you really ought to watch your step. That kind of stuff can be flagged as hate speech, and trust me, that is strictly prohibited everywhere. I'll say it again: everywhere. Mike isn't some lawless wasteland where you can just say whatever you want without consequences.

This isn't about hate speech—it’s simply how people communicate on Reddit, whether anyone likes that style or not. No one is forcing anyone to post there, nor is anyone being coerced into reading the threads.
It seems we’re dealing with a double standard here: if one activist calls out another activist, it’s fine, but if a regular Redditor says something blunt, they're the villain? By what metric are we deciding that certain groups deserve more sensitivity than others?
To truly grasp the culture and the specific way debates unfold on Reddit, you almost have to be a Redditor at heart—it's a difficult concept to convey to someone who doesn't frequent the site... the friction arises when outsiders wander in and attempt to police everyone else's behavior. When the veterans push back, the entire atmosphere shifts to accommodate the newcomers... the wild ones arrive and drive out the civil ones. 👎
To put it plainly: those who are constant contributors should arguably carry more weight than the tourists. If a newcomer wants to join the community, they should adapt to the existing culture, rather than demanding the culture change to suit them.

There seems to be a double standard at play: if one group can call out their own, why can't we? Why are our standards held to a different measure than theirs?
To truly get how discussions work here, you basically need to be an old-timer at heart. It’s hard to explain to someone who doesn't spend much time lurking. Problems arise when newcomers arrive and try to police everything; then the veterans snap back, and suddenly the culture shifts to accommodate the outsiders... they come in loud and drive out the regulars.👎
Simply put: those who are constant contributors should arguably have more say than the tourists. If a newcomer wants to join the conversation, they should adapt to us, rather than expecting us to change for them.

You're overthinking it. As far as I can tell—and I've been watching—nothing has actually changed lately, neither the tone of the posts nor the moderation. We all know it.

What do you mean, "how people talk"? Is it because they belittle anyone who doesn't fit the mold? Come on, give me one actual example of something people used to be allowed to post that’s suddenly off-limits now.

Douglas Johnson41 said:It’s clearly a double standard. If one person in a specific group can call another person in that same group a certain label, or if a feminist can call another woman a feminist, why can't Mike do the same? Why are we treating Mike differently than them?

Well, you absolutely can call another guy on the CIA forums a member of the CIA. 🤷

Honestly, what you're saying is just nonsense. It isn't an issue for a feminist to identify another feminist, and the word "gay" usually depends entirely on context—the word itself isn't banned.

Douglas Johnson41 said:To put it simply: someone who is a regular contributor to the CIA should arguably have more standing than some random person dropping in for a visit. If a newcomer wants to join the conversation here, they should adapt to our culture rather than expecting the community to change for them.

I'd say they might have fewer rights, if you want to get technical, when it comes to those who just show up to troll or stir the pot without any interest in having a real, constructive discussion. But just because someone holds a different opinion shouldn't be a reason to punish them or kick them out.

And honestly, it feels like total double standards: I mean, if one guy can call another guy out, or if some activist can label someone else, why can't an MK user do the same? What makes them somehow less valid than everyone else?
To really get MK and the way debates go down there, you kind of have to be an MK user at heart, which is hard to explain to someone who doesn't hang out on the site... and the real headache starts when these outsiders show up on MK trying to act like they know better, then the old-school MK users clap back, and suddenly everything starts shifting to accommodate the newcomers... they come in all wild and end up driving away the regulars.👎
Basically, what I'm saying is: if you're always posting on MK, you should probably have more say than the tourists. If a newbie wants to be part of MK, they should adapt to us, rather than expecting MK to change for them.

Does everyone really need to have the exact same rights? I'd say they do. Forum rules are supposed to apply to everyone equally, regardless of how many posts you've made or how long you've been around.

Also, this whole labeling thing is starting to cross a line and get pretty distasteful. It’d probably be best to just drop it—along with all this debating over who's allowed to post on MK and who isn't.
Since nobody seems interested in actually dropping links to specific rule violations, I guess we might as well just lock this thread.

So, in your last post, you're basically gunning for more privileges because you consider yourself an MK veteran—or rather, you’re arguing that veterans should get special treatment within MK, if we’re being precise. I’m telling you right now, that just isn't going to happen. Everyone plays by the same rules and carries the same responsibilities (and by responsibilities, I mean actually following the forum guidelines). Sure, what Nica brought up is true in the sense that moderators might interpret certain rights a bit differently sometimes. And obviously, those who just show up to stir the pot or troll will end up with "fewer" rights, since they get spotted and sanctioned immediately, but you can't seriously demand that newcomers who join MK and happen to have a different opinion than yours be treated as having fewer rights than the old-timers.
Any user who has access to MK can post whatever they want, provided they aren't breaking the rules.

So, what, are we supposed to be psychic? Do we not need specific links or actual details to understand exactly what you're getting at instead of just throwing these vague, baseless insults at other members? Here’s a little hint for you: we aren't clairvoyant.

I'm locking this thread. Come back when you actually know how to start a discussion that follows the rules and offers something constructive, rather than just repeating "this is what we say" without actually saying anything of substance.
