I'm out. Feel free to bring this up at the PZK, petition for a new PPDF to be opened, and if luck is on your side, hey, great. 🙂

Matthew Anderson said:I'm not feeling this. Feel free to pitch it on the PZK—request a whole new PPDF section, and if luck is on your side, maybe it happens. 🙂

Are you talking about launching an entirely new PPDF category right on the main forum page?

Exactly. A dedicated PPDF USA just for Advertisements seems pretty pointless to me. Good luck hunting down the right PPDF if they go that route. 🙂

You know there's hardly any chance for that happening; if anything, Anderlon would likely be the one making the call.

Honestly, I was mostly concerned about that one "Looking/Offering Dates" thread—the one that got closed and deleted just about a week ago. I get why they did it, though; some people were clearly abusing it because they didn't have the 100-post minimum required for the Classifieds section.

Still, once you implement clear rules for it—like setting a limit of 100 posts and... The necessity of being precise. Any advertisement for a concert, show, or local event would have a really bright outlook.

Here is why I believe certain users on American forums find this topic so appealing:

Taylor Johnson37 said:It’s much easier for an extremely shy person or a true introvert to commit to a specific activity or event when they have one single person to meet up with—someone they’ve already had a chance to get to know via private message before meeting IRL. Showing up to a massive meetup filled with a crowd of people is intimidating, especially when you aren't comfortable in groups larger than two or three, most of whom you don't even know. Besides, those types of people usually gravitate toward structured plans rather than being open to "sandbox" style social interactions in real life.😁

The bolded section also explains why people hesitate to post that specific type of Advertisement within the existing Advertisement thread:

Joseph Sullivan10 said:I honestly don't see that getting approved. They might let you run a single Advertisement thread, but even then, there was zero interest in setting that up—even though the food enthusiast had a decent idea for it. Now, those same people are just quietly drifting over to the other two threads instead.
It really should, though let's be honest—everyone checks out the Classifieds section even if they won't admit it. You notice those social ads popping up there too; I’m sure I’ve run into at least a dozen of them myself while browsing through different locations. Word on the street is they're nothing more than a bunch of phonies.

A PPDF would be incredible—having a dedicated advertisement thread along with specific spaces for discussions and making plans. But let's be real, the chances of that actually getting approved are basically zero. 😁

Look, I know you guys have already made up your minds, but I just wanted to get one last word in and spark a little debate. Feel free to keep the discussion going—just please don't delete this. I might end up hunting down that PDF later, and I'd love to have this here for reference.

The decision to launch PPDF is also up to Anderlon.

Right now, three of the USA mods can't seem to agree on whether we should open PPDF USA for advertisements, and Meadow hasn't weighed in yet.

We really aren't looking to add another dedicated thread just for ads, which is why that one was locked in the first place.

As Matthew Anderson pointed out, the decision to launch a new PPDF rests solely with Anderlon. Neither the moderators nor the supermods have the authority—nor should they be allowed—to make such a call.
While this wasn't our intended topic, since we're already discussing it, I might as well weigh in: you've all shared plenty of thoughts, so now we just wait to see what the admin has to say about it.

We have absolutely no intention of opening a PDF like that. Look, this entire Forum is a space designed for people to connect, and if you ask me, it’s actually a way better way to meet someone than those typical dating sites. Here, you get the chance to really get a feel for who someone is before you even start messaging them. We already have a specific thread on the US version where you can look for people to chat with or grab a Coffee and Chat, and we regularly organize meetups for our community members—the options are honestly endless. All those threads that indirectly help people meet IRL are tucked away in PDFs that match their themes; they’re basically just an extension of the conversations happening among our local users. But at the end of the day, the Forum is built for discussion and debate, not as a dedicated dating site, and we aren't going to turn it into one.
