I’m seeing this nonsense all the time—like an open thread where the title is completely unreadable, and then the very first post is just some random link. Or it's just total gibberish.
Today I was checking out the news on Bloomberg and noticed there are about a dozen threads like this active right now—some over on Reddit, others popping up on various niche forums, and so on. What is actually going on here? Who is opening these things, and what's the end goal?

Spam bots are nothing more than automated scripts designed to flood the internet with junk or phishing scams—the kind of garbage messages you see here that consist of nothing but suspicious links or mindless filler text meant to bait you into clicking.
Just report those messages immediately and for heaven's sake, don't touch any of the links. 🙂

Spam creators—allegedly operating out of Korea this time—seem to believe they can turn a profit by hoping one out of every thousand threads gets enough traction to generate some kind of revenue for their clients.
Essentially, we are looking at some sort of automated script masquerading as a genuine forum user.

Honestly, you just gotta tackle that by setting up some solid anti-spam filters and a CAPTCHA right in the admin control panel—kind of like how you'd enable automatic image resizing so you aren't constantly nagging users to resize their own files manually, you know?

That’s definitely the move I’d make...

Yeah, here they go again. Honestly, we should probably just ban Koreans from this forum entirely. I've never been a fan of them as a people anyway. 😁

I really hope you're just pulling my leg here. Someone could easily take that the wrong way and call it racism or just straight-up trolling
Let’s try being decent toward our neighbors and other countries for once, shall we?

Look, I get it. That's exactly why I phrased it that way—just in case someone might take it the wrong way
. But personally? I don't think 😁 even remotely 😁

It's actually pretty easy to bypass a country lock; if you know how to code a simple spam bot, you can figure out how to get around stuff like that lol

Anyone on janitorial duty here? This forum is a total dumpster fire.

It’s all cleaned up now! If you happen to spot anything else that looks out of place, please just hit that report button, shoot a quick message to the admins, or let us know right here on the forum.

I flagged this a few days back, but it still hasn't been taken down...

Which movie do you like the most?

Honestly, looking at it, that isn't some random spam bot; it's just someone making a standard report to the mods. 😁

When are we finally going to get this bot situation sorted out? It’s honestly getting a little ridiculous at this point, and I can't say I've ever run into anything quite like this on any other forum I've visited, which makes me think there might be some pretty significant security gaps in the system's setup

It looks like there isn't a single political topic left on the front page anymore ☕

That’s how I’d tackle it...

Seriously though, is that actually technically impossible?

(As long as we aren't talking about those insanely sensitive Google CAPTCHAs 🙄 )

Sad is fine, but they’re constantly "under attack."☕
