After installing macOS, even with version 8.1, my motherboard won't even recognize the network card I just installed.

Where and how exactly is it failing to pick up the network card? Is we talking LAN or Wi-Fi, built-in, PCI, or USB? Need more details...

The integrated LAN on the motherboard won't be detected. So, just to get things running for installs and updates, I installed a Realtek PCI LAN card into an empty slot as a sort of temporary fix. It works fine, I guess, but it's taking up a PCI slot that I would rather save for a hybrid digital-satellite PCI card to watch TV on my PC, since I usually just connect to my plasma screen via HDMI through the graphics card anyway.

So, did you get the driver installed for that network card yet?

So, was it working fine last week or what? What's the deal with Device Manager—are you seeing any yellow question marks or exclamation points popping up?

For the extra one, I didn't even need to look for anything; the macOS service manager recognized it automatically.

That board never really worked for me on anything lower than macOS 8.1 Ice. Before I installed an extra network card, Device Manager used to flag some unidentified network hardware. That was pretty much the issue, since without that extra card, I couldn't even get online to update the driver for that unknown hardware, which I don't even notice anymore, I guess.

Here’s the link. Pick your OS and grab the driver. Just pull the PCI card out or hit up the Control Panel to scan for new hardware and install it from there.
