Windows 8.1 drivers

Greetings, everyone.

I have successfully installed Windows 8.1, but I am currently hitting a wall trying to install the necessary drivers. The display quality is noticeably poor, which leads me to believe the graphics drivers are missing or malfunctioning. However, regardless of which version I attempt to download, nothing seems to work correctly; everything is just fundamentally broken.
I have already attempted to source the software from both AMD's official site and Acer's support pages, yet the result is always the same frustration. To be honest, this whole driver situation is becoming quite irritating. I have never encountered such difficulties following a system reinstallation before, but this time, I am at a total loss. I am reaching out to the experts on this forum to request some assistance.
Specs: Acer Aspire 7551
AMD Athlon 2 X2 p320 processor
ATI Mobility Radeon hd 4250 Win 8.1 Profesional

There are no yellow exclamation marks appearing in the Device Manager...
However, one detail is somewhat perplexing: when I right-click on the desktop and navigate to display settings, there is a line above the resolution options that reads: "1: Mobile device display" 🤔
In short, I have no idea how to resolve this.

Give this one a shot (assuming you're running 32-bit Windows), or try this instead (if you've got 64-bit)...

Yes, I actually neglected to mention that—this is the x64 version. I have a feeling I attempted to download these files previously, though it seems the process failed to complete successfully. Regardless, I will attempt the download once more...

edit: The download was successful this time, yet after completing the installation, there is absolutely no discernible change...

Just set that resolution to 1600 x 900

That resolution isn't going to work; that laptop actually runs at 1600 x 900.
Give that a shot instead.

The issue here is that the option simply isn't available; the maximum resolution is capped at 1152x864...

Looks like the screen isn't being recognized properly. Try hunting it down in Device Manager and just nuking it from there. Then see if the system picks up the right one.

But hey, this is all just guesswork... no telling what'll actually happen next. 🤷

I tried deleting the driver from Device Manager and rebooting, but I'm right back where I started. The maximum resolution I can reach is stuck at 1152x864...
So, clearly, simply deleting it didn't solve anything. What is the next logical step here? 🤷

Not really sure what's going on here. I'd need to take a look if you want any chance of fixing this... maybe I can jump on TeamViewer and see what's up if you're down.

Windows update? It can definitely suggest some drivers...

I downloaded nearly 900 MB of updates, went through the installation process, rebooted the system, and... well, go ahead and guess what happened...
It’s the exact same issue.

I finally managed to get it working. I ended up downloading the Windows 7 drivers and installing those instead, and everything is finally running exactly as it should. My thanks to everyone for the assistance.
