Every single time I try to boot up my laptop, I’m sitting there staring at a blank screen for ten minutes—if not longer—before the manufacturer's logo even decides to show up, and once that logo finally appears, absolutely nothing happens for an eternity. To make matters worse, almost immediately after I hit the power button, the cooling vent starts blasting air like a jet engine, accompanied by this loud, obnoxious buzzing sound that I can only assume is coming from the fan.🤔Only after that frantic blowing and buzzing finally dies down does Windows actually decide to load. What on earth is going on? The damn thing is still under warranty, too...

It might just be cluttered with junk—you know, things like viruses, malware, or whatever else sneaks in there. Have you tried running a scan with your current antivirus yet? It might also be worth grabbing CCleaner to clear out your temp files, browser history, and all that other accumulated digital clutter.

Could you give me the full rundown on which laptop model we're actually talking about here, and also, let me know if the thing even runs okay once you're finished with it?

The antivirus says everything is clean🤔

Look, I’m far from being some kind of tech wizard—I barely know my way around a motherboard—but is it actually possible for a laptop to be absolutely trashed, just full of junk, but I mean the physical kind? Like, could it be suffocating under a mountain of dust and grime?

It's a Dell, and honestly, it seems to be working okay for the most part...

though, if I'm being completely honest, we really ought to take a closer look at it because I downloaded this one series that was playing perfectly fine before, but when I went to watch it again yesterday, the audio and video were totally out of sync...

"HP" is a massive category, man! You gotta give me the actual model number! It's usually listed right under the name.
That desync thing probably has nothing to do with your laptop, you might have just grabbed a crappy file. Go jump on YouTube and see if the video and sound match up there.
PS. Is it getting hot while you're using it? And does the fan start sounding like a jet engine after you've been on it for a while?
pss. what version of Windows are you running?

The fact that the audio and video aren't synced isn't necessarily a hardware flaw; you might have just downloaded a bad file. Go check out some stuff on YouTube and see how the picture and sound hold up there.
P.S. Is it running hot while you're using it? And does the fan start blowing really loudly after it's been running for a bit?
P.P.S. Which version of Windows are you running?

Ugh, I really don't feel like digging through my junk drawer right now to find the label, but if I recall correctly, it says something about an ES51, OR SOMETHING ELSE (it's written in tiny, tiny print). YouTube works perfectly fine, though the machine does get a bit warm—is that considered too much?🤔 The fan doesn't kick into high gear or anything after booting up Windows, which happens to be 8.1 since that was what came pre-installed from the factory...

I'd suggest checking to see if it's overheating, but honestly, I might just go ahead and reinstall the OS. It's probably simpler that way.

Look, if you don't have the energy for it, then I definitely don't have the motivation either. Good luck with everything.

I find myself wondering if such a thing is even possible, though perhaps you might verify your startup settings just to be certain (you can type msconfig into the Start menu and navigate to the Startup tab, or, should you happen to be running Windows 8, simply press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to access the Startup menu directly). It would also be prudent to run a scan using Malwarebytes; it is an exceptional tool in my estimation. I sincerely hope these suggestions prove useful to you. 😉

So, I guess I should probably write down my ongoing saga with this laptop, because it’s becoming quite the ordeal...

Back at the start of July, I sent the thing in for service. Their paperwork claimed they did "replace hard disk," and honestly, it seemed to run perfectly fine for about ten days.🍿 Then, however, I started noticing these recurring hiccups where the boot-up process would just crawl. One time, the screen went completely black and wouldn't budge for hours. So, I sent it back in for repair—I dropped it off in Miami, though apparently, the actual work gets handled by their main hub in Washington, D.C., specifically at that service center in Location. After a few days, they actually have the nerve to call me up and claim they couldn't find any fault with the machine whatsoever.🎉 I had it back at Predig the day before yesterday. I went to test it out that evening; it powered on, I watched a couple of YouTube videos, and then it shut down. But the real headache started the very next morning.☕😵

It refused to connect to the internet. The status said it was connected, but absolutely nothing would load, even though my phone was on the exact same network working flawlessly. I decided to just reset the whole thing, but then this warning pops up telling me to plug it into a power outlet. Well, I did exactly that, though it shouldn't have mattered since the battery was sitting at at least 50%. After about ten minutes of reinstalling everything and whatnot, it finally booted up and I managed to get online. I turned it off, and after about five minutes, I packed it up and carried it back to my room, only to find that it wouldn't turn on again. And I don't mean a slow startup—I mean nothing. Just a dead, black screen. I plugged it back into the charger, waited until it was fully charged, and when I tried again, it booted the system immediately. It worked fine again this morning, but just two minutes ago, it took a good two minutes just to get the system running.🙄

The warranty expires in about seven or eight days, and the laptop is an Acer not AC ES1 511-C29D.

Just send it back to them if it's still under warranty. Make sure you put together a clear, detailed list of everything that's going wrong.
