So, I really tried to put together a decent little audiovisual post for this thread.

But apparently, it just vanished into the void.

Now I’m left wondering: was it a broken YouTube link, a glitchy image, my own questionable sense of style, or am I just being targeted by some bizarre global conspiracy? 🤔

Or maybe it’s just some annoying technical hiccup?

Whatever the case, I’d love to know what actually happened.

This post is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. Furthermore, the profanity used is entirely inappropriate for this discussion.

I allowed a few posts to slip through, even though I have a visceral allergy to discussions framed like, "You shouldn't look into this—I won't tell you why, but it's incredibly dangerous, and..." followed by endless, nonsensical rambling.

Frankly, I fail to see how this subject matter bears any relation to the specific subforum where it has been posted.

Sorry, I didn't realize you magic enthusiasts had suddenly become as quiet as nuns. I'll cut back on the swearing from now on. Maybe I'll even say a couple of prayers as penance. Or go to confession if that's what it takes.

But seriously. You have yellow and red cards, warnings, spells, and hexes at your disposal, yet you decided the best move was just deleting posts. What’s next—deciding the topic is too much to handle and tossing it in the basement?

You're not being cool about this, and you know it. 🙂

I don't want to get involved, but I've always preferred 👍 moderators who just delete posts instead of handing out punishments.
Personally, I’d much rather have five of my posts wiped than face a ban or a formal strike.
I felt compelled to speak up regarding the deletion of 👍
It isn't about defending the moderator, but he did what was best for you and the community.
He wasn't trying to punish you.
He wasn't looking to ban you.
He just deleted the post.
If you aren't happy with that, what exactly is your grievance?
If he had actually penalized you, you'd be complaining about that too. Some people are just impossible to please.

Then she goes and sticks her nose into something that has absolutely nothing to do with her. ☕

rowdypanther said:They've always been... 👍 It’s a bit frustrating when moderators just delete posts instead of actually handing out penalties.
Honestly, I’d much rather have someone just delete five of my posts than deal with an actual ban or some formal penalty.
I figured I should probably reach out before this gets deleted. 👍

It’s pretty clear you don't think anything I post here has any real value. Honestly, I won't even try to talk you out of it.

To be honest, there are certain people on these forums who only show up when they actually have something meaningful to say. When they do post, it’s like reading a little masterpiece—even if they’re just trolling. I don't exactly count myself among those elite thinkers, but I do believe in following a few core principles. A post should be treated as an original work of art. Downvoting someone is basically just negative criticism, and deleting a post? That’s nothing short of book burning.

rowdypanther said:If you had gotten punished again, you would have just complained about it anyway. Honestly, it’s like you can never just be satisfied with anything. What is wrong with you?

Do you honestly think I’m the type to sit around and complain? What, am I some kind of psychic now? ☕

If I really want someone to cater to my every whim, I don't come to an online forum—I just head straight to the bedroom.
Since you aren't exactly looking to play the wise guy here, I'll give you my honest recommendation. 😒

Good grief, what happened to this PDF? It used to be actually fun. A little crazy, sure, but entertaining. Honestly, even inspiring at times.

Now, everything has devolved into "how do I get my ex back," "when am I going to land a job," and "did my grandma put a curse on me?" Every now and then, you’ll see some half-witted teenage genius jumping from thread to thread, spamming comments like "this is fake" or "that's also fake" or "it's fake because even liars say things are fake." Then there's someone shamelessly plugging their own website. And occasionally, someone posts a picture of a squid just to prove Cthulhu exists.

And yet, those kinds of posts stay up.

Meanwhile, mine keep getting deleted.

Why? Is it because I mentioned the FBI or the CIA? Or maybe because I don't immediately cross myself whenever Aleister Crowley comes up?

Look, enough is enough.

I’m asking nicely: please stop deleting my posts, or there are going to be consequences.😍

One-liner jokes and cheap little gags used to prop up tired, stale topics are being wiped away—and sometimes, they're even being flattened out entirely.

Are you sure they're actually enforcing that rule consistently? I have my doubts.

Ryan Wilson2, you don't need to do all that. We both know you're twisting the truth here.
I tried talking sense into you, but it was a lost cause.

Now, I’m calling on the admins to weigh in on this situation.

Is it really okay to delete some one-liners while letting others slide?

And what's the harm in bumping up old threads if the content is actually better than what's being posted lately?

Is this 'Magic and Mysticism' PDF supposed to be some stuffy place where we can't have any fun? Seriously? We're talking about magic here. Witches, hexes, morning invocations, herbal charms, or even reading entrails. It feels a bit silly to expect everything to be strictly academic.

Rules aren't applied with perfect consistency, which is frankly a normal part of human nature.

Those who actually contribute meaningful substance to the discussions are free to toss in a joke or go off on a tangent every now and then... and they won't be banned or penalized. However, if someone’s entire presence here consists of nothing but mockery and trolling, they can expect their posts to be deleted and their accounts suspended.

Your final sentence reveals everything I need to know about your attitude toward this subforum. People hold all sorts of things close to their hearts—things that might seem trivial or nonsensical to an outsider. For some, it’s tarot and magic; for others, it’s astrology. Some find purpose in starting a family, some live for the stadium atmosphere during a football game, some are die-hard Republicans, others are staunch Democrats, some have unwavering faith in Jesus, and some look to NASA for answers...

If you ever actually realize the massive stupidity you've posted here, all the secrets of the universe might just reveal themselves to you. Until then, my magic is still stronger than yours. 🎉

@ judolino: Give it a rest. You can't exactly go around picking fights when you're feeling this low. I mean, you could, but it's just not really your style. 😉

We're all just sitting here taking shots at Microsoft and waiting for Mother Nature to come along and kick us all out.

Oh, High Priestess!

What's wrong with reviving old threads if they're better than the new ones?
Is the 'Magic and Mysticism' section a place where having any fun at all is banned?

I've had my coffee, now I'm just waiting for a quick reply. 🙂

Thanks, rustydrifter10! Your explanation really cleared everything up for me, so I’m happy to move on from this topic.

I can't speak for everyone else, though. Once you let a genie out of a bottle, there's no easy way to shove it back in.

That being said, I still feel like some kind of public statement regarding the deletions would be a good move. It doesn't have to happen right here or even right now, but eventually, somewhere... 😉

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been pulling long hours all weekend.

So, about that deleted post. It was a bit of a mixed bag—some parts were total spam, but there were some constructive points in there too. Honestly, if you ask me, the post could have probably stayed up with just a light nudge to keep things from drifting off-topic. But, the moderator made a really fair point: there's a huge difference between when a regular, helpful contributor drops a comment like that versus someone who mostly just hangs around to stir the pot. Looking at your history on this thread and this subforum in general, it seems like you fall more into that second category; you don't pop up here very often, aside from maybe one specific discussion where you actually got pretty serious. Given that context, I get why they decided to pull the plug on it. Grace Edwards92, I mostly know you from the IRS boards, where you're actually a really solid member—you definitely know how to write something thoughtful and well-put-together, though I suppose that depends on what we're talking about. The moderator is spot on, though; mocking someone else's beliefs just isn't cool, and it would be great if we could all respect that. Hey, nobody's saying criticism is banned! In fact, things don't always have to be heavy and serious, but we just need to know where to draw the line and watch our language.

As for the swearing the moderator mentioned, I didn't catch any, so maybe I missed it, or perhaps they were referring to something else entirely outside of this specific post or thread.

It wasn't even swearing, really, just some pretty rude language 😁
I’m going to go wash my mouth out with soap and promise I won't troll over there anymore—cross my heart!

Alright, I’m a little slow on the uptake, so it took me a minute to realize that Magic and Mysticism is basically the center of attention here. If I show up there again after today and someone decides to give me a hard time, I'll know why. 🙈
