The Frenchmen—standard procedure.
They retired from the scene only to snatch up yet another gold medal; hats off to that invincible machine.
No matter how soft they might seem at times—one has to respect what they've accomplished here.

Here comes the commentator: ''this is probably their last title...''
It was the exact same story just a few years ago 🤣

Total dream team, honestly. I haven't really sat down to watch the whole tournament, but man, those Frenchmen are absolutely crushing it 🙏

France 🙏
Man, I really hope once this generation retires, the French finally stop running the show in handball.

Well, I guess it’s time to tip my hat once again to the greatest squad to ever play the game.
The home team actually put up a much tougher fight than anyone gave them credit for.

hopefully Qatar just fades back into handball obscurity now
Yeah, my ass. They've got an incredible coach, they're loaded with cash, they can just buy whatever foreign star they want whenever they feel like it, and let's be honest, they actually play pretty damn well.

At this rate, we’ll be sending them into retirement at the next EP, just as they go out and grab gold at the OI.☕

The French are classics, hats off to them.
Qatar will vanish after this, what a handball powerhouse. 😂 😂
I guess the French will see a decline once this generation retires. They might still be in the mix for medals, but they won't be this dominant.
Maybe the Poles will struggle after the EP, since they’re facing a generational shift and it's unclear where they go from here.
The Spaniards will always be right there in the mix.
Denmark might actually dominate in the coming years.

We'll see what happens when they face someone on neutral ground. I guess people hyped up Mexico way too much after the EP, and now they've basically vanished.
The next World Cup is in France, and it seems pretty obvious they'll defend their title. After that, though, they're facing a total generational shift, so we'll see how that actually plays out.
In 2019, the World Cup is in Denmark and Germany.

Kudos to the brave Qatari; they’ve put up an impressive fight against the heavy hitters already.
As for the French, what can one even say? They are dominant in every single facet of the game, roughly 30% stronger than anyone else in this tournament. Their bench depth is incredible—when one player struggles, a substitute steps in and drops four or five goals. And for those local critics who constantly complain about fatigue, perhaps they should look at Karabatić. At 30 years old, he plays both ends of the floor for over 50 minutes almost every game, takes his fair share of hits in the paint, and still has plenty of gas left in the tank for the final match. Or take Bertrand Gil; he's also over 30, and when an attacker gets injured, he'll sprint back on defense, only to be seen jogging off once the whistle blows. Respect to these men; this is how you fight and represent your country. One simply has to admire and respect them.

Look, there is a massive difference between Mexico and Qatar.
Those Mexicans played some absolutely terrible handball—their attacks lasted forever, like a minute and a half or two, and they were just way too aggressive on defense.
Qatar, though? They play pretty decent handball. They actually know how to create mismatches, and they specifically recruited players for a reason.
Plus, unlike Mexico, Qatar actually has the cash. They can afford the best coach in the world, foreign players, whatever else they want.
At the end of the day, they found a sport where they can actually compete at the top level. You really think they're just gonna walk away from that now? I guess not.

Man, what can you even say about the French? They’re just on another level in every single department—easily 30% better than anyone else at this tournament. Their bench is stacked; one guy has an off night, someone else steps in and drops 4 or 5 buckets. And honestly, for all those local losers whining about being tired, maybe take a look at Karabatić. He's 30 years old, playing both ends of the floor for basically 50+ minutes every game, taking hits in the paint, and he still has enough gas in the tank to run like a horse in the final game. Or look at Bertrand Gil—guy's over 30, gets nicked up on offense, sprints back to play defense, and then limps off once the whistle blows. Seriously, hats off to these guys. That's how you fight and represent your country. You just gotta respect the hustle.

Qatar plays much smoother handball; they actually know how to create mismatches and bring their players into the action purposefully.
Unlike Mexico, Qatar actually has the money. They can afford the best coach in the world, foreign players, whatever they need.
At the end of the day, they found a sport where they can actually compete at the very top, so I doubt they'll just walk away from it now.
Maybe. But they’d need to recruit the absolute best players in the world to do that. I'm talking about guys like Hansen. If they land talent like that, then they might actually win something.
How realistic is it for top-tier global stars to play for Qatar? I guess someone will eventually cave.
With this current roster, they'll probably fall apart by the Olympics. Just you wait. These teams are built for just one tournament and nothing more.

How realistic is it that the world's absolute top tier players would go play for Qatar? I mean, someone will probably take the money, I guess.
With this current squad, they're gonna crash and burn at the Olympics. Just watch. This isn't a team built for the long haul.
They might dominate in Asia, but I don't see them winning a World Cup or the Olympics anytime soon. Honestly, it looks like they just need one superstar (like Šarić) and a killer coach to get any real results. I really don't think this group is a powerhouse. At the Olympics, they'll probably just end up in the quarterfinals, if they're lucky.

The only thing this game proved is that a coach is basically irrelevant in handball.
It was pretty obvious that Onesta isn't even involved during those timeouts 🙄, unlike
poor Rivera, who’s out there busting his tail trying to turn these half-witted Qataris into something resembling a real team 😛
