When did he ever get under our skin?😁
He’s just like Lazarov—for every one shot he actually makes, he misses three.

So, what’s the deal with 4:30 PM?
Man, I’m missing the whole thing—total bummer. 😢 😢

I’m just praying we run into Poland 22:24 so I can actually sit back and enjoy the semifinals in peace.

And I'm sitting here missing the game too, honestly. 😳

In the two years leading up to the Olympics, we consistently finished in fifth place. 😱

Frank Sanchez37 said:Watch the game against Poland... Goluza: "We're going to play a 6-0 defense to pull their shooters further away from the goal."

Can someone actually explain this? How does playing a 6-0 defense push the opponent's shooters away from our net?...

I think it's a bluff. Before the Brazil game, he said he had a few more things up his sleeve—one being that 5-1 defense he regretted having to use against Brazil.
He’s probably emphasizing this "6-0 defense" just to throw the Poles off balance, at least until kickoff.
He never made such a big deal out of specific tactics in previous pressers.

Anyway, I watched some clips of our last matchup with them, back in Denmark last year.
We struggled in the first half, playing that 6-0 defense, trailing at the break.
Then we switched to a 5-1 in the second half, built a four-goal lead, and somehow managed to hang on.

Let's see if Goluza actually learned anything...

Pretty much. 🤣

But if you actually look at it—just off the top of my head—we've never had this kind of luck with the draw or the bracket. First, we got a joke of a group, then there was Brazil, who is way weaker than us; honestly, we only let that game go sideways ourselves. Now we have Poland, whom we’re realistically better than, so if we just play straight, it shouldn't be a massive issue. Finally, we'd likely face the Swabians first, and on paper, we aren't the favorites there.

My gut feeling? We make the final, then lose a routine game to the Frenchman. ☕

Honestly, if we actually pull off the run and end up facing France in the championship game, I don't think my heart could take it—I'll probably have to skip the match entirely. It feels like they've spent the last few years just completely breaking our spirit with matches like 😁

Aaron Gray said:We struggled through the first half, playing a suffocating 6-0 defense and went into the break trailing.
In the second half, we switched to a 5-1 setup, managed to pull ahead by four, and luckily held on until the whistle.

One wonders if Coach Goluza has learned anything at all.

Or perhaps their side has a coach who actually watches film now and then.
They might even adjust their tactics accordingly...

But that is merely a possibility.

Can someone who actually knows what they're talking about explain this to me? How exactly does playing a 6-0 defense push the opponent's shooters further away from our goal?

That’s what I call backward logic... at least, I hope that’s all it is.😁

Looking at our last four competitive matches, we're sitting at 2:2—though, let's be honest, we absolutely crushed them twice in that stretch. 🤷

Look, it’s really not about us. They basically admit themselves that they take more losses against us than anyone else. Eight gold medals in the last decade—let's be realistic here—we're talking about the absolute best national team of the last ten years. Those kinds of successes aren't just luck; they're showing off their dominance against other top-tier teams too.

I mean, sure, the US could have done more after those games against Portugal and Athens, but that would've required much better leadership—and maybe a bit more depth on the defensive side of things. The French have these incredible defenders and a whole system built around their backline; that's where they really pull ahead.

Paul Jones7 said:I guess you could call that putting the cart before the horse... at least, that's my best guess anyway 😁

Now, if we were talking about any other coach, I’d probably be inclined to agree that it's just someone else's turn to take the heat, but honestly, when it comes to him, I feel like absolutely anything could happen at this point, and I wouldn't even be surprised 😁

True, but most of our wins come during the group stages, while they pretty much consistently beat us when the stakes are actually high.

Honestly, the Americans are always the favorites for gold—it’s just the way things work.

There’s one more thing I should probably mention... their conditioning for these big tournaments is just on another level. I can’t even remember the last time I saw the US squad look physically exhausted. It’s been a real problem for us, too—it’s cost us so many semifinals and finals (and not just against the Americans) where we actually had great momentum and solid rosters, but we ended up being totally gassed by the time we hit the knockout rounds.

The French have consistently shut us down in all three of our head-to-head finals—World Cup 1995, 2009, and Euro 2010. Honestly, I’d be perfectly fine just seeing them reach the championship game, even if they ended up losing, because we haven't even been in the conversation for a final since 2010. Sure, people love to point out that we got a favorable draw this time around, but let’s be real: nobody is going to care about "what could have been" in six months once we're staring at a silver medal instead of gold.

Well, this was the first game I actually wanted to catch, but I don't think I'll be able to make it... maybe it’s for the best, though. Honestly, we're probably just going to lose anyway 😁

It’s basically just a dry creek bed at this point ☕

Just a little joke on the side, but we’re definitely feeling the pressure as we head into that classic matchup against our eternal rivals, the Qataris 🕺

I think this is officially our first real test of the tournament, maybe the second one after the matchup against North Mexico😁 We had the easiest draw in the books, yet we looked absolutely lifeless out there. Look, today was a legit game and a win puts us straight into the semifinals, so honestly, who gives a damn about the "impression" we made?

Eric Fox7 said:We’ve been sitting at a dead-even split over our last four competitive games. It's a frustratingly stagnant way to be playing. 22, though we actually beat them twice. 🤷

I am absolutely fed up with this nonsense. It is high time we address the sheer incompetence being displayed here. We need to stop dancing around the issue and face the facts straight up. This situation is a complete disaster, and quite frankly, I’m tired of pretending otherwise. It’s time for some accountability! kaže:
That’s the truth of it, but let’s look at the reality here: most of our wins come when we're playing in groups, whereas they seem to beat us almost every single time in head-to-head matchups. I honestly cannot wrap my head around how anyone could be so incredibly important. It’s frankly absurd. People walk around acting like they hold the keys to the kingdom, strutting through life with this unearned sense of self-importance, expecting everyone else to bow down to their every whim. It is exhausting, quite frankly, to witness such blatant arrogance on a daily basis. I am absolutely fed up with how these games are being called lately. It is becoming impossible to watch.

Both of those victories were absolutely critical to our momentum. When you look at the numbers, it’s clear that those Frenchies completely blew their shot at reaching the semifinals because they couldn't handle the pressure. (The group stage match at NS 2012 and the quarterfinals at ESP 2013)
