I’m living on the ground floor while my router is upstairs, so I’ve been running on a Logitech USB adapter 108. to bridge the gap. Honestly, the connection was pretty decent until recently, but lately, it’s been absolute garbage. Since this thing is already 7 or 8 years old, do you think the adapter itself might finally be kicking the bucket?

I’ve got a hunch there might be some electrolytic capacitors in there that are starting to go... unlike the other components, those things actually age. Try setting the antennas horizontally on both units and make sure they're perfectly parallel to each other... that should give your signal a decent little boost.
A crappy connection could also be caused by interference... maybe even from neighbors or people in your own house using stuff like tablets or smartphones that they just picked up recently.

You might want to try switching up the channel settings on your router to see if that clears things up.
