I can guess the reasoning behind it, though it honestly bothers me how aggressively they're wiping out most of the comments from certain users and pulling down movie links too...

You basically let the trolls and the bot armies run wild just so you’d have an excuse to shut down a thread for being "politically incorrect."
With moderation this pathetic, there was never any other way this thread could end...

I am telling you, it’s all Masons, the Jewish community, and Bin Laden. Conspiracy theories designed to suppress powerful masculinity.

Given what we know now—and it’s always easy to play the expert once the dust has settled—this entire discussion probably shouldn't have been opened in the first place.
To be blunt, after the previous thread regarding male discrimination was shut down—which, let's face it, was actually just a thinly veiled breeding ground for misogyny—several users migrated over here to Amtrak to aggressively push for a new thread dedicated to gender-based discrimination. After a fair amount of back-and-forth and negotiation, the politicians running the site decided to give the topic another shot in a slightly modified format. Unfortunately, it seems the original proponents weren't acting in good faith; once again, the space was simply hijacked for endless, mindless bickering.
The result is exactly what you see in the comments above: complaints that the thread was poorly moderated and that it served as a magnet for sockpuppet accounts (mostly because people were creating clones to bypass bans related to the same issues). However, "proper" moderation in this instance would have required deleting nearly every single post and banning almost every participant. We don't need that kind of chaos, nor do we want this type of topic on this forum anymore.
So, the thread was closed the first time, given a second chance today, and history has repeated itself. We won't make that mistake again.
