Hello everyone,
I am running into a bit of a headache with this particular laptop while trying to install Windows 7—it currently has 8.1 running on it—and the issue keeps cropping up right in the middle of the installation process.

Essentially, I kick off the installer, and just as the "setup starting" message appears, the whole system crashes and throws an error code at me...
bugcode_usb_driver ?!?

Does anyone have any insight or advice on how to resolve this?

Are you installing Windows via a USB drive? If so—which program did you use to make the bootable USB?

I am using the original DVD to run the installation...

Oh, my bad—I totally misread that... So, you managed to get Windows 7 installed without any hiccups, but now, once the computer boots up and passes that initial Windows 7 logo, it just hits you with that specific error?

No, perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my initial description...

It's more that I insert the DVD, tap a key to trigger the setup, and let it load—but just as the actual installation interface is supposed to launch, that blue screen appears and crashes the whole thing with that error...

Do you have a bunch of different peripherals plugged into your USB ports besides just the laptop itself? If so, maybe try unplugging the "unnecessary" stuff and then give the process another shot..

There isn't anything properly connected here—it’s just that I'm at a complete loss as to what to do next...

Hmm.. Just curious, since you brought up the original Windows 7 DVD—are we talking about the one with SP1 already included, or is it the base version without any service packs?

I haven't the slightest clue—not that I have any way to actually verify it...

I haven't actually held an original disc in my hands lately, so I can't tell you for sure if it's printed right on the surface of the CD itself. Does the box happen to mention anything about it? Maybe check if Service Pack 1 is listed there?

Anyway, if I were you—and this is just my two cents—I'd skip the disc entirely. You can just download the exact version of macOS you're looking to install directly from the internet for free, completely legally. Then, once it's ready, you just activate it using the product key you already own. It’s much smoother. You can head over to this link... KLIKNI ME

Just make sure you pick the specific version you need—meaning you really have to grab the exact same version you were trying to install from that CD, otherwise your product key won't be recognized...

Once the download finishes, you'll have an ISO file. From there, you just need to burn it onto a blank DVD as a disk image. You might want to grab a program like Rufus to handle the burning process... http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

After that, just run the installer and see if that does the trick. Honestly, that's the only other solution I can think of right now...

Hmm... I'm honestly drawing a blank here—maybe it's best to wait for someone with a bit more experience to weigh in and give you a solid answer..

If I pull this drive out and slap it into another laptop, then install Windows 7... will that machine just absolutely lose its mind?

That’s how the settings were configured originally—I honestly have no clue what my next move should be...

It’s pretty discouraging—I went back into the BIOS to try and tweak those settings one more time, but now I’m stuck. The laptop powers on and I can hear the fan spinning and the drive loading, but there is absolutely no image on the screen... nothing at all.

I already tried pulling the CMOS battery, but I'm still at a loss. Any advice?
