Where did all the emojis go?

Lately, I’ve noticed some of the emojis are disappearing—they just seem to become invisible. For a while now, the : popcorn : one has been missing, and now I’ve realized the : burger : emoji is gone too.

I was wondering if this is happening by accident or if it’s an intentional change? I'd love to see them brought back if possible.

So, I finally figured out why those little emoticons are acting so weird—it turns out they’re scattered all over the place on the web server. Some of them are even hosted over on the main news site. If you're running a strict personal firewall or some aggressive ad blocker, it might actually block access to that specific server. That's why you see an "X" in a little box instead of the actual emoji.

It totally makes sense, though. They probably moved the most popular emojis over to the main site just to take some of the heavy lifting off the forum's server and save on bandwidth costs for the hosting provider. It's just smart IT management, really.

They've been doing some patching and fixing stuff over the last few days, so things should be looking a bit more normal now.
