Hey everyone.
I’ve managed to lock myself out of my Gmail account because I can’t for the life of me remember the password. It’s an old account I barely touch anymore, but there’s one specific thing buried in there I desperately need to get back to—my old high school senior thesis that I copied over to the drive years ago.

The password is nowhere to be found, and honestly, when I was setting up the security questions all those years ago, I just made stuff up on the fly, so good luck to me there.🙂

I did a little digging online, and I stumbled upon what looks like the easiest fix, though it feels almost too simple, which is why I’m coming here to pick your brains.
The software is called Pass breaker: http://www.socialpasswordfinder.com/...l-password.php

Supposedly, you just install it, punch in the email address, and it spits out the password right there.🤷
I’m tempted to give it a shot, but I’m hesitant because I don't want to end up with a virus or some other digital headache on my hands.
Has anyone actually messed around with this kind of software before, or is there a better, more reliable way to handle this without wrecking my computer?

That kind of software can be pretty useful—assuming you’ve been logging into your gmail account on that machine and your password is still sitting there tucked away in the browser history. It basically scans through all those saved credentials stored within Windows. But, if you've already gone ahead and wiped your history—say, using CCleaner—then you're out of luck with the local tools and really need to deal with Google support directly.

So, how does anyone actually get this stuff installed? I grabbed the file from the site, but then it demanded I download VS Code just to prove I wasn't some bot. Once that finished downloading and everything extracted, I saw the OEAccountLib.dll file sitting there.

But even after all that, the program is still nagging me for the code like nothing happened.

Meanwhile, I've just been sitting here watching it hang in the background for half an hour now.

Where am I going wrong here?

Thanks

Man, I knew it. Even though I went through the trouble of unchecking every single box for bloatware during the installation, the thing still managed to sneak some junk onto my drive. It was getting ridiculous—ZoneAlarm kept popping up with notifications every few seconds like a persistent telemarketer. So, I finally just wiped them out using Advanced SystemCare and ran a quick scan with Norton. It’s only flagged ten items so far, and we’re barely even 18% through the process.

If you didn't go through the trouble of a fresh FedEx install, just check your 1Password settings. See if your Gmail info is still hanging around in there.
