I'm running Windows 10, and whenever I try to stream a movie on one of those sites that lets you watch stuff online, I keep getting hit with this message:

It looks like some of these security settings are blocking Java from running properly. Does anyone happen to know how to get around this or fix the issue? Thanks!

Hmm, I don't think it's SmartScreen—that usually just gives you a True-False prompt, right?

Give this a shot:
Go ahead and head over to the Control Panel -> System and Security > Action Center. Once you're there, look at that column on the left side where it says "Change User Account Control Settings"

Just try sliding that bar to match exactly how mine is set... if that doesn't fix it, then honestly, I'm stumped.🤷

So I just went to check, and it looks like I have the exact same thing as you—that little rectangular box sitting right there on that top line...

I didn't grab a screenshot of that part, but there's actually another window that pops up right after the first one. Here’s what I'm seeing:

Hopefully, this gives you a bit more to work with...

Anyway, thanks so much for putting in the effort here. 😁

I've never actually run into that specific issue myself—never even seen it pop up on my end—but I did spot some guy over on YouTube who claims to have the fix...

It seems you have finally addressed your issues with movie playback, though I suspect you did so by compromising your security settings.🙂

The issue is basically that newer Java versions ship with higher security defaults, so they won't let any app run without a certificate. Most of those players don't even have one, which is why you have to dial the security settings back down...

Sure... honestly, everyone loves to complain about how difficult things are, but it’s really just a matter of anyone actually putting in the effort to figure out where to go and how to find a solution if they actually cared to look.
