12 Years of Hell

"So, here's the deal—I teach English, and now I'm stuck trying to put together a media literacy lesson for my class. Someone suggested showing them *12 Years a Slave*. I usually work with middle schoolers—around 7th grade—so I'm wondering if this movie is actually appropriate for that age group? It looks like a solid thriller to me, but I'd love to hear what you all think before I commit. Thanks! :*

I mean, it really depends on the grade level, I guess... might be a bit too heavy for some kids.
