Look, first off, I’d like to ask the mods to please not delete this thread if at all possible, because I am genuinely in need of some help—specifically, some solid advice.
Basically, back in 2005, I had my first consultation with an orthopedic specialist, Krešimir Herceg. His report from that visit states: "Orthopedic footwear with reinforced medial forefoot edges to correct adduction, featuring custom orthotic insoles with pronation wedges along the lateral borders of the feet, 4mm in height."
Diagnosis: Pes metatarso-adducto-varo-supinati.
Following that, I was fitted with specific shoes that I wore for quite a while (I can't say exactly how long, but definitely several years).
Once I stopped wearing those particular shoes, I switched to using orthopedic inserts in my sneakers, which I also wore consistently for a few years. Last year, I went in for another checkup, and the findings were as follows:
"Pain and pressure in the plantar areas of the metatarsal heads. Clinical observation shows mild cavovarus of both feet, with pressure noted over the first metatarsal head. Visible plantar keratosis present alongside pressure points."
Diagnosis: M 19.0 Other arthrosis, primary arthrosis of other joints. METATARSALGHIA PEDIS BILL.
Conclusion:
-manufacture appropriate custom insoles
-soft footwear
During that appointment, I also spoke with the doctor, who mentioned that I might eventually need surgery on both feet. However, he recommended waiting a bit since my bones are still developing, and he didn't want to risk disrupting that process.
Since I play sports (specifically amateur soccer), I deal with incredibly intense, unbearable pain just above the ankle. It's shown right here in this image: http://www.docpods.com/images/FootPain/calf-muscle.gif (look at the right side), specifically the area stretching from the "Achilles tendon" down to the "Soleus." This has been hurting me severely for a very long time. It makes playing impossible; as soon as I try to make a couple of sprints, the pain hits me so hard it's honestly unbelievable.
I was wondering if someone with more expertise could tell me if there's a connection between my foot issues and this pain? And would surgery actually resolve this specific pain?
I know you're probably going to ask why I don't just go back to the orthopedist, but I feel like there's no point in going back just to have them hand me more insoles and brush me off. I also read somewhere that seeing a general orthopedist isn't the same thing as seeing a sports medicine specialist. If anyone could recommend a true expert who might actually be able to help, I'd really appreciate it.
Anyway, sorry if this is a bit of a wall of text, but I just got home from soccer and I'm just completely fed up; it hurts so much and it's just incredibly aggravating.
