So, I was wondering if anyone could point me toward a spot where I can pick up this specific antenna and be absolutely certain it’s the real deal rather than some knockoff.
I’ve been doing a bit of digging online, and it looks like there’s an Alfa Network distributor out there selling this particular model bundled with a few extras: http://www.alfa.net.my/webshaper/sto...ProductItem=21
It’s popping up on eBay too, though I noticed one listing shows four available with four already sold😛 : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alfa-AWUS036...item27d5bf66e4
Right now, I'm looking at a price point around $100, and it seems like it might come with some add-ons—kind of like this one here, featuring a directional panel antenna and a Y USB cable...
If someone could get back to me quickly, I’d really appreciate it.
p.s. If I’ve managed to post this in the wrong section, mods, feel free to move it wherever it belongs.

I actually have an original TP-LINK TL-WN7200ND with 5 dBi gain here in the States, and I guess it works pretty well for me.

So, here’s my thought process. First off, I noticed this Alfa unit comes with a DIRECT PANEL ANTENNA boasting 7dbi gain. From what I gather, that should actually outperform those omnidirectional ones that usually sit around 9-11dbi. 2. This card uses the N standard, which tops out at 150Mb/ps and tends to be pretty resilient against interference, though the headache is that most modern routers don't even support that standard anymore. 3. I'm not entirely sure if this specific card supports packet injection. I was hoping to test out cracking a WEP password—strictly on my own router, obviously, since I'd rather stay out of legal trouble. 4. My subscription with Comcast is about to expire, so I made a deal with my neighbor to split the bill. He lives right across from me, maybe 30m away, but there’s a wall in the way so we don't have a clear line of sight.

Anyway, I'm hoping someone can weigh in on this.

If you're starting to write about cracking WEP passwords, just forget I ever suggested it. Go ahead and keep going with whatever you were doing in that first post.

Man, what’s the consensus on this? And is there actually any truth to the idea that N-standard is less prone to interference?

2. This card uses the N standard, hitting up to 150Mb/s, and it seems most resistant to interference. The issue is that most modern routers don't even support that standard anymore.
3. I'm not sure if this card supports packet injection. I want to try cracking a WEP password (on my own router, obviously, since that's illegal otherwise).
4. My AT&T subscription expires soon, so I made a deal with my neighbor to split the internet. He lives about 30m away, but there isn't a clear line of sight—there's one wall in the way.
Hopefully, you guys can help me out.

1. Yeah, definitely go with the Alfa and the panel antenna. You'll get a better signal.
2.
3. You should be able to crack WEP with it without any issues, provided you know what you're doing.
4. It ought to work fine. If the signal drops, you can always just grab a stronger antenna on eBay.

That's pretty rude. I don't think whether he can crack passwords or not is even your concern.

I have no clue what was supposed to be rude about my post (just because I don't think it's cool when people crack someone else's WEP password), but you gave him a pretty decent response and that's fine by me.

Come on, let's not get into a shouting match here. I was just saying that the ladies are curious, and honestly, I’m just going to try my luck and see if I can break through 🙂. So, does this mean I can actually pull the trigger and buy it using this link?
