I have a whole suitcase full of games stored as DVD ISO files. My plan is to mount them as virtual drives so I can get them installed, but I’ve run into a bit of a snag since my version of PowerISO isn't free; it keeps nagging me about the trial period. I really don't want to deal with the hassle of searching the internet for illegal stuff or hunting down product keys, as I'd rather stay on the right side of things. Is there perhaps a free program out there that offers the exact same functionality as PowerISO? I'm not really interested in just using 7-Zip to extract the ISO files and installing from there, as that feels a bit tedious to me. 🙂 Basically, I am looking for a free alternative that provides all those same features I keep needing from PowerISO 😁

I would be very grateful if anyone knows of one (if such a thing even exists)

I suppose you might be thinking of PowerISO Lite? Because from what I can gather by looking at the websites, even that version requires a purchase, 😢

Back in the day, you only had to pay if you were using it for business; home use was totally free (and I'm not talking about the Lite version)... I'm not sure if they changed their policy recently, so maybe double-check that before you go buying anything...

52% alcohol content. That's probably safe enough for anyone. You pay 120% for the premium stuff.

I suppose PowerISO Lite is free, at least according to what they say on download.cnet.com

Thanks, guys..

Just a quick heads-up, watch those checkboxes during the installation process... Otherwise, you'll likely end up stuck with one of those useless toolbars. 🙂

We really need to make this a sticky thread, but let's do it for all free software.

When a friend (specifically a cute girl) tells me their PC is acting slow, but then I see

Well, I'm curious—is there anyone left out there who hasn't heard of PowerISO? 😕

Everyone’s pretty familiar with PowerISO.

The weird thing is, their website makes it look like you have to pay for it—but if you actually click the free version and start the installation, there's an option to just activate it for free. It's kind of funny, really. Most people see the price tag on the landing page and assume it’s a paid tool or just a limited trial, so they end up skipping right over it 😁

Yeah, but you should definitely go for the Lite version since it’s totally free—you just have to make sure you select that specific option during the installation process.

http://www.daemon-tools.cc/products/dtLite — and if you look closely, it even explicitly states right there that the download is free.

If you ask me, just go with Virtual CloneDrive. It’s free and doesn't make a fuss. There’s even a portable version out there if you’re lazy—you don't even have to deal with an installation, just run the .exe and you're good to go.

First, just grab everything from the USB drive and move it over to your computer—your desktop works fine. Once that's done, check out this link here:

You know that feeling when a friend (and let's be real, usually someone much better looking than me) tells you their computer is acting super sluggish, and then you see

I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before.
