One of our very own, Karl Stefanic, had her entry selected as one of the top 10 most creative and imaginative submissions in the recent contest hosted by ESPN and ROST Sport, which offers a chance to win sports equipment for our club valued at $6667.

Karl Stefanic is a 14-year-old girl who was born with permanent visual impairment; she can really only see the outlines of her opponents, yet she manages to achieve incredible success in competitions...

Anyone participating can enter an unlimited number of times—meaning you can send as many text messages as you'd like—to increase your chances of being drawn, and each text costs $0.80 including tax

There is also a gift voucher from ROST Sport that can be used at the ROST Sport store (Washington, D.C., 11 K. Ćosić Square) worth $333 for one of the viewers who voted for the entries...

The drawing will take place on July 4, 2013, and the organizer has committed to donating 5% of the fund value to the American Red Cross. Each winner can only be drawn once per cycle for a single prize, and you have until June 30, 2013, to send in your texts...

Hi everyone, I really didn't mean to sound like I was just pushing an advertisement here... my only real intention is to try and lend a hand to the Chigra Taekwondo Club, because they're currently working with some pretty tough conditions. I felt moved to help them secure some much-needed equipment through this SMS donation drive after seeing a video of Karl Stefanic, a 14-year-old girl who has been partially blind in one eye since birth and has very limited vision in the other. It hit home for me, especially since my own son, who deals with his own motor skill challenges, trains there alongside quite a few other kids who haven't found a place to belong anywhere else except at Chigra Taekwondo Club. The coaches are absolutely wonderful with these children, but they just lack the essential gear that would make their work so much easier... so I’m reaching out to ask if you might consider supporting this campaign by sending an SMS, helping them reach the threshold needed to qualify for the final drawing. reach the finals.

Unfortunately, we just didn't quite pull enough votes to take the lead, as the Aspen Ski Club ended up ahead of USA Taekwondo,
which meant they also won the drawing for the $20 $0.00 toward sports gear, so I want to congratulate an Ogulin local,
because it really shows how much community support matters... compared to a place like Washington, D.C., where the population is
way larger, yet people there didn't step up enough to support the club right in their own backyard.

I'm truly grateful to all our dear friends and athletes who managed to set aside $0.80 to support
USA Taekwondo, and thank you so much for every single text message we received.
