I believe there would be significant value in establishing a dedicated thread where the
administrators themselves admit to instances where they erred and subsequently reversed their decisions. By analyzing these specific cases, we could collectively learn how to identify and prevent similar administrative oversights in the future.

Naturally, forum members should also feel encouraged to provide examples where a moderator or admin
has corrected a previous administrative error that was originally made.

Got a warning for trolling, even though (this time) I wasn't actually trolling, so they dropped it.
Does that still count?

Anyway, this is about some nitpicker who isn't a mod anymore.

Someone went ahead and permabanned my alt account, claiming it was just a duplicate of a banned user. Honestly, administrator Nica stepped in and wiped that unfair ban away after calling out the nonsense. But now? I’m stuck. Since I got kicked off the premium sub, I can't even post anymore. Great.

Moderators act like digital popes—they're always right, aren't they?😳

It’s pretty rare for them to admit they messed up, though I know there are exceptions. Most of the time, even if you lay out a detailed argument and ask for the specific reasoning behind a ban, they won't budge—which usually means you have to take it to an appeal. Honestly, given how many bans they hand out, it feels like they should have some leeway to be wrong occasionally, yet they still dig their heels in even when they know they've overstepped. The level of flexibility really depends on which subforum you're in; some are incredibly strict, while others are much more laid back and might even let things slide that technically shouldn't be allowed.

Oh, please. Our moderators are absolutely flawless, so I don't see why anyone would ever need a thread like that.😉

moderators themselves could just own up to their mistakes, fix their calls, and let us all learn from them so those kinds of slips don't happen again.

And hey, users should definitely jump in too! Share those times when a mod or admin
actually fixed a wrong call they made.

Honestly? This idea is kind of pointless because:

a) It's hard to find any veteran moderator who hasn't messed up at some point or asked for a correction.
b) You aren't really going to learn anything from it—most people won't gain much, and the moderator who actually made the mistake isn't going to get much out of a public thread anyway.
c) It won't actually stop future errors from happening.

So, I managed to get myself flagged over on the Health board, and now my post has been pulled. Honestly, though, an administrator is still an administrator.

You don't have a single strike from the Health forum to your name—not a single one issued or reversed (and those stay on your profile to show they were wiped).

That was under my other username. 😉

It took me a minute to realize I was dealing with a different username. Honestly, I’d already handed out a penalty for trolling before I realized my mistake, so I went back and asked to have it cleared. It happens. 🙂

Some people actually own up to their mistakes. Whether they handed out a wrong card or just messed something else up, they'll ask to have it cleared and apologize to whoever was on the receiving end.

Men, you didn't tell me the whole story! 😢

Wait, hey—can the mods see my other account? You know, the one with over 12k posts? 🙄

So, that’s all I have to say about the apologies.

But anyway—dropping the jokes for a second—I’ve noticed something during my time hanging out here. It seems like when the women on this forum get a shot at moderating, they somehow shift their whole online persona for the worse, whereas the guys stay pretty much the same once they get those mod powers. Why is that? Am I just seeing things, or is there actually something to this?

@Larry Wilson25/">@@Larry Wilson25, I'm not on this thread all the time, so I'm just seeing this now... once you pointed out the mistake and I read your PM about it, I apologized, but honestly, I've already moved on from it...

Man, even five—it’s like how kids in my neighborhood can smooth over a misunderstanding in seconds. That's why I just leave a comment; having this topic front and center on my Tapatalk app while I'm active saves me from scrolling through the morning paper—you know, that pile of daily garbage journalists always dig up just to fill space. This forum actually makes me laugh. 🙂

Looks like I actually owe you an apology. My bad.

It really bugs me that I don't have a legit badge from you lot of moderator woodblocks. When you see a chance, you just go for it without any mercy.

So, I guess there are still cases like Herb and me where the bans get pulled back.
