So, during my rugby match this past Sunday, I took a pretty hard hit to my right leg—specifically the quadriceps area. Right after the game, walking was a total struggle; I was limping quite badly. Later on, I felt this small lump. You can't actually see it, but you can definitely feel it if you touch it. It’s located right on the outer edge of my right quad (sorry if my anatomy terms are a little off, I'm no doctor!).
Things have improved a bit since then. The muscle itself isn't aching constantly, but I do get this sharp, tight sensation on the right side of my leg whenever I try to stretch. That little lump hasn't gone away, though. I can walk around, but after a while, the discomfort kicks in... running is still completely out of the question.
It almost feels like the muscle has lost its tone. Usually, my quads are pretty well-defined without much effort, but this injured side looks totally flat now, except for when I flex it.
Does anyone have an idea of what this might be, or maybe some advice? Right now, I've been applying some topical gels, icing it, and keeping it wrapped up with an elastic bandage.
