That’s what most of those McLaren drivers are hoping for anyway, but I’m just looking at this from a purely pragmatic standpoint.

It’s actually quite possible that even Sergio Perez could emerge as our third driver to pull off a double victory this season.😬

You can tell Sergio Perez was driving like he was walking on eggshells this race.
He was braking way too early, letting everyone pass him without a fight, though he didn't exactly
give them a friendly wave as they went by.
If we were at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he might have actually shown some of that old-school grit.

It’s been exactly nine years since we saw that first big win right here, and honestly, if we could pull off the 31st victory this year—especially on his 31st birthday, no less—that would be just about poetic, wouldn't it? 🙏

Go Ferrari. Let's go Fernando.

The Stake F1 Team car looks incredible, but I honestly don't think Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi have the skill level required to actually pull off a win with a machine like that.

Back when I was at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in person, I got to witness several overtakes and watch Heidfeld’s Renault catch fire. These days, my expectations are a bit more modest; since Heidfeld isn't on the grid this year, I'll be perfectly content just watching a few passes and seeing Kimi take the win on TV.🙏

The suspense over who takes the win is finally over. If you bet against the favorites, well, that's on you.
It’s basically going to be someone from Red Bull Racing, McLaren Racing, or Fernando Alonso.

As for everyone else? They aren't completely out of it, but don't hold your breath. It's a long shot. Maybe someone from Lotus F1 or Michael Schumacher if luck swings their way.

Mercedes-AMG seems to be struggling more and more as the heat climbs... they just can't seem to get any traction once the track temp hits 80 or 81 degrees.

Honestly, they could probably use a light drizzle of 😁 right about now.

And it's not just them.
Here’s the general breakdown:
Temperatures around or below 77°F — Ferrari, Stake F1 Team, and Mercedes-AMG are king.
Temperatures around 86°F — Red Bull Racing and McLaren Racing take the lead.
Temperatures north of 95°F — Lotus F1 is where it's at.

Mind you, Red Bull Racing, McLaren, and Ferrari are pretty decent regardless of the weather. They don't see that massive performance cliff when the temps shift; they just have a specific sweet spot where they happen to be faster than everyone else.

But then you've got Stake F1 Team, Lotus F1, and Mercedes-AMG, who basically fall apart if the temperature shifts a few degrees—or absolutely lose their minds when it finally hits their perfect window.

After watching those first few races and seeing how the track temperatures fluctuated, I tried to map out car speeds against the heat.

In the end? A wasted effort. It's impossible to draw any single, universal conclusion.

At the end of the day, you have to factor in the asphalt texture, the vertical load on the axles, and—most importantly in my view—the track layout itself. High-speed corners, heavy braking zones, and full-throttle exits from slow bends... that's what really eats through tires. And whoever manages that degradation is the one who actually controls their race pace.

A simple temperature reading doesn't tell the whole story. And let's not forget we're looking at cars that have been significantly upgraded since the start of the season.

I mean, I can definitely see where you're coming from, but look—if a total wildcard like Chavez could somehow snag a win once before basically disappearing into the midfield for the rest of the season (he was pretty much stuck behind Stake F1 Team most of the time), then why couldn't a Stake F1 Team driver do the same? And I’m talking about a driver who is way more consistent both as a team and individually than Chavez ever was.
Everything just fell perfectly into place for Pastor Maldonado in that one race and he walked away with the trophy.
For Stake F1 Team, they really just need everything to line up about 90% to 92% of the time during qualifying and the race itself, and boom, they're there. Honestly, I even think a podium or a win isn't out of the question.
Like I was saying during the German Grand Prix, in that final third of the race, the Stake F1 Team car—and especially Koby—was hands down the fastest thing on the track.
If any team deserves a victory after everything they've been through, it's absolutely Stake F1 Team. It's gotta be Koby and/or/ Chico!!! 🙏

Look, it might be "super boring" to some people, but looking back over the last 26 years at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (only Monza and Monaco have longer streaks), it's actually delivered way more incredible races than those two tracks mentioned in the parentheses during that same timeframe. ☕

Mark is acting just like a cheapskate, grabbing everything he can get his hands on 🙂
