Greetings to everyone here. Since my current computer is over a decade old, I’ve reached a point where playing anything modern is essentially impossible (I’m currently trying to scrape by with some League of Legends), so I was wondering if anyone happens to have any old components lying around that they no longer need and might be willing to donate 👍 To be perfectly blunt, my specs are abysmal: I'm working with just 1GB of RAM and an Intel Pentium 4 processor; the whole machine is quite frankly a disaster. I am originally from Canada, but I have an uncle living in Chicago, so we could arrange to have something shipped there. I am currently facing some rather difficult financial circumstances, so any part at all would be a massive help. I kindly ask that you refrain from any negative comments 🙂

We really ought to establish a sticky thread dedicated to donating components and similar items... 🤔
Over the last couple of years, I've passed along quite a few legacy parts, though some were simply discarded when there was no one available to take them off my hands.

@rowdypilot6: Unfortunately, I am unable to assist you... But good luck regardless.

That’s a shame... I wouldn't even dream of asking if my rig wasn't an absolute disaster, 😢

I know we’re all feeling the squeeze right now when it comes to money—it’s definitely a stressful time for everyone—and while I realize my take isn't exactly going to solve your problems, my best advice would be to just start putting some cash aside for a new rig...

Man, I just can't find a way to scrape enough cash together, which is the absolute worst part of this whole thing... Honestly, if I tried saving my allowance from my part-time job at Starbucks, I wouldn't even hit my goal by 2030, let alone any sooner. 🙂 Well, I guess it looks like nobody's really interested in discussing this topic, so I won't bother you all further. 🕺 Anyway, cheers everyone, hope you're having a good one!

If you find yourself with extra free time for gaming, you might want to look into picking up a side hustle.

The main issue is that you're looking for parts people would usually just give away for free. I doubt anyone’s going to hand over a combo like a dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and an HD 4670—that would actually be a decent step up by today's standards. 😉

Maybe you could score some 512MB or 1GB of DDR1 RAM out of it... but I don't see much more than that happening.

If you're hoping to snag a used, complete setup that can actually handle older games, you'll probably need to shell out about $267.
