I honestly feel like we need to take action.

And I’m not just talking about those physical protests happening out in the streets right now, but more of a collective "virtual" movement across this entire community... perhaps starting symbolically by adopting this "STOP ACTA" avatar for everyone to see.

Since this forum stands as one of the most influential online communities in America, I really believe we ought to be the first ones to take a clear, definitive stand on this issue, rather than—and please excuse my bluntness here—just playing it safe and staying on the sidelines like cowards...

Again, I apologize if my wording comes off a bit harsh.

There are basically two ways to get in on this fight. One way is if the CEO decides to go head-to-head with ACME Corp and triggers certain internal shifts himself, and the other is for us folks on here to start threads and "fight" through our posts or use the board to coordinate actual boots-on-the-ground action. Honestly, though, speaking from what I've seen, a tiny fraction of people actually have the guts to take things from the digital world and turn them into something real in their everyday lives.

We can definitely pull some weight using that second method, so feel free to kick off whatever threads you need to about this. I’m betting most of us hanging out on this forum are already part of that crowd using the internet as a weapon against ACME Corp...

Look, I don’t have any issue at all with animal welfare or protecting our furry friends, but honestly, when you start asking people on a forum to jump into immediate action by opening up their own homes to foster dogs and cats... then I feel like you can also ask folks here to take to the streets and protest against the Democratic Party.

Exactly. But let’s be real—the turnout from a place like Reddit is going to be basically zero. That’s my whole point here.

Hey, James Patel20, can I steal your avatar?
Or maybe you could just give me a hint about where you found it.
Anyway, consider this my immediate contribution to the 😁

edit: oh, wait, I see you've got it in your signature too :blento:

edit2: don't be lazy—you should probably just make your own avatar instead 😁

Unless you want to at least give me a little hint about where you found it...
See, I'm already trying to be helpful and contribute to the community 😁

edit: oh, wait, I just realized you’ve got it in your signature too :blento:

edit2: don't be lazy, you could have just made your own custom one 😁

ugh, man, I was honestly worried for a second there that you were going to sue me for copyright infringement... 😁

Me??
Actually, it should have been the other way around—I had your avatar as mine for nearly fifteen minutes straight. 🤣
Technically, it looks like I could sue anyone who uses my avatar now... though, wait, maybe Anonymous could sue me since I edited their picture. 🤔

🤷

Pretty good avatar, right? 😁

On topic: guys, seriously, we need to step it up a bit... I know it seems like a tiny thing, but Reddit is way more active than we realize. 😉

See, I’m already doing my part to contribute to the 😁

I actually already had my own anti-SOPA avatar ready to go, but yours looked so much better that I just had to borrow it. Go ahead and sue me for copyright infringement if you want. 😁

To be honest, I could probably sue all of you since I was the very first person on this forum to use an anti-SOPA avatar before everyone else decided to swipe my idea. 🤣

you could have come after me, since I spent a good fifteen minutes staring at your avatar... 🤣
actually, you see, now I could probably sue anyone who uses my avatar... oh wait, no, it's more likely that Anonymous could sue me because I went ahead and edited their image... 🤔

And honestly, the creators of the comic "V for Vendetta" could potentially take legal action against Anonymous because they used the main character's mask as their own symbol... 😁

If they actually manage to kill off The Pirate Bay, I might just cancel my internet service altogether 🤣

Can we quote famous authors in our posts here without getting sued?

Hell no! You'll be hauled off by the FBI before you can even blink. I mean—you're stealing federal property, which is a huge crime... or maybe it's just freaking illegal...!

Not even just that—if anyone is still alive 😬 from the era of that Guy from the French Revolution who inspired the mask in the first place, I’d love to see them sue the comic writers, the filmmakers, and the actors. 😬
p.s. I stole this avatar too 😉
edit: Honestly, Reddit should probably get involved here; once these laws actually kick in, platforms are going to lose users. For instance, a site like Netflix might just shut down its documentary division because we won't be allowed to access the truth about what's happening in our series anymore.
Or rather, we simply won't be permitted to know.
