Oh, absolutely... I didn't think so either, but only NOW is everything actually starting to fall into place. I had my surgery 9 months ago, and it's only in the last 2-3 weeks that I've noticed those famous little "bumps" slowly disappearing—the tip is getting definition and the whole nose just looks... different. As long as the tip doesn't drop, I'll be thrilled.😍

Hi there.
I’m 17 and I've been thinking about getting rhinoplasty for quite some time now.
From the front, everything looks fine, but my nose is large, and from a profile view, you can see a bump. It also kind of crinkles when I laugh—it isn't just a bump on a flat surface, but more of a slight banana-shaped curve along the entire length.
Since I have an elongated face, the actual length of the nose doesn't bother me; I just want it to be straight and stop feeling so tight when I smile.
I've done a little reading, but nothing has given me any real direction, so I was wondering—what should my first steps be?

I went in for my second follow-up today, and they finally cleared everything off my nose, and I am just sooooo incredibly happy with the results... there's still a bit of swelling left, but once that goes down, I know it’s going to look absolutely stunning... honestly, I can't find enough words to express how wonderful Dr. John Raguz at the Mayo Clinic is!!! :clapping:

this is it! just hoping it isn't some kind of thriller movie😁

There could be a dozen different culprits—allergic rhinitis, swollen mucosal linings due to some other underlying issue, an enlarged adenoid, and so on...
I dealt with the exact same nightmare, and let me tell you, ever since I had my adenoids removed, I can breathe like a bird🤣. You absolutely need to head to an Otolaryngologist for a full evaluation; they'll likely order a CT scan or an MRI of your nose and sinuses, and then you'll finally have some actual answers.😉

Has anyone else dealt with their nose looking way too thin after surgery? Does it eventually shape back out?

Also, there's this awful whistling sound whenever I breathe. Everyone around me can hear it. Is that normal, and how long does it take to stop?

My nose is looking better every single day. It’s natural, beautiful, and I can finally breathe easily. It’ll take a bit more time for the lining to fully heal since they had to do four procedures all at once—the hospital told me it usually takes at least two separate surgeries—and the lining was already pretty damaged from years of using drops and sprays. But for the first time in my life, I can actually breathe through both nostrils! Dr. Glusac is a total genius. I honestly can’t believe that just ten days ago I had one of the ugliest noses on the planet, and now I’m staring at this beauty! 😍Big thanks to rustygardener172 for the photos and the recommendation 🙂)))))))) To anyone sitting on the fence: do it. Yeah, it’s rough and the recovery is a grind, but trust me, if you're in the hands of a great doctor, it is absolutely worth it. 🙂

This looks SUPER.. I mean, your face looks completely normal—no drooping or swelling at all.. maybe try putting one [bandage] on the front too? I'm curious to see how much that changes the look..

It’s been three months since my surgery, and I still look a bit off—almost like my nose is a tiny bit too long. I’ve got that nagging feeling that I might end up looking like a pig or something.
Honestly, I'm really hoping this is just a temporary phase. 😢

Haha, well, my doctors mentioned that things might settle down a bit, but three weeks is such a short amount of time... it really takes months for everything to finally settle into its permanent place, so please don't worry, everything will eventually find its way back to normal...😉

Man, I really hope so. I know I need to be patient.
My nasal passages feel congested too, and the areas on both sides still feel raw and tender. It all feels pretty recent. Fingers crossed everything turns out fine.

Oh, I completely understand how you feel because I'm going through the exact same congestion issues... I actually had a follow-up appointment today, and they found a little bump on my right side... the doctor mentioned that if it bothers me, he can smooth it out during my six-month checkup, but since it doesn't hurt and isn't visible—you can only feel it if you touch it—I'm still deciding... :/ if I'm already heading back in, I might just have him take care of it then.🙂 And by the way, the tip of my nose is still pretty swollen, and the doctor told me the tip is usually the very last part to settle down...🙂 which means I probably won't see the final result for anywhere from six months to a full year... cheers to that...🙂)))))) But honestly, overall, I am incredibly happy with everything... now I just have to find the patience to let everything fall into place naturally...🙂

Can anyone help me out here? I have a deviated septum and I’d rather go private instead of dealing with a hospital setting. But—since I’m only 17—is my age going to be a major hurdle for this surgery? It makes breathing a nightmare, not to mention the blow to my confidence... 🙂
I was looking into either the Mayo Clinic or maybe a specialist in Chicago? Does anyone have a rough idea of what the costs look like there?

They've gone ahead and tapered the edges, giving the top a bit more of an elevated lift...😍
