Hey there.

I could use some help—the timestamps on Reddit are acting totally weird. For example, the last post shows "TODAY 00:37," even though midnight hasn't even rolled around yet.
It’s been doing this ever since the clocks changed... 🙂

Thanks.

p.s. Interestingly, I just noticed this only happens on the subforum landing page (the sports section); once I actually click into a thread, the post times look fine. Any idea what's causing the glitch?

p.p.s. And when I log out, the same mess happens across all the subforums. It's a complete disaster.

Just go right here, scroll down until you hit "Date & Time Options", set the zone to GMT+1, and make sure the DST correction is set to automatic. "Problem" solved.

For me, the timestamps on Reddit actually match up with real life...

🙄 This kind of "logic" genuinely pisses me off.

Yeah, you. And honestly, the most pathetic part is that moderator or admin role.
If I say it’s fine, then it’s fine. Period..

Have you even bothered to look at the front page of the subreddit for unregistered users?

Here’s the current state of affairs:
Who's online: 4511 (members: 855, guests:) 3656)

Precisely that moment, at the very least. 3656 To anyone visiting Reddit: the timestamps on this site have absolutely nothing to do with real-world time.
Fine. As long as you and the rest of the admin team are happy. If that’s the standard for how you "deal with people," then honestly, screw this whole damn subreddit.

Two separate threads have been open on this issue for a week now. Besides, the question was asked directly to Anderlon—the head admin, right?

I did a little digging before posting, but I couldn't find anything similar. My bad.
"Glad" to know I'm not the only one seeing this. It’s clearly on their end, not ours... 🙂

Not quite. If you're an unregistered user, the time shown is their local time. Once you log in, it switches to yours.

I did some digging before posting this. Couldn't find anything similar. My apologies.

Alright, maybe I went a bit overboard. 😁
Including yours, that makes two. My topic. Here. And that thing of yours. Plus that bit about...Both threads have been open for a week now. This only applies to my thread—not yours. Damn it. 🤷

Here. I asked the admins the exact same thing (see that fourth post up).

I realize most people see this as nitpicking. But let’s be clear: this isn't some obscure, backwater subreddit, nor are we dealing with a nuclear reactor where adjusting the clocks for Daylight Saving Time would require evacuating the entire United States.

🙄 Wait, you aren't aware of this?

Look, I’m telling you nicely—it's the same thing every single year. Honestly, I can't even remember if Daylight Saving Time was ever actually set up correctly here to begin with.
People used to ask about it all the time back in the day, but now everyone just accepts that the clock shows the wrong time for unregistered users... occasionally someone rushes in asking what's going on, but it's honestly kind of weird to me that you haven't even realized this is happening.

I’m aware of that glitch affecting guests—you know, those unregistered users wandering around. But as long as the settings are dialed in correctly, the timestamps look perfectly fine for logged-in Reddit users.

Wait a second... This question was posted in a subforum where you act as moderator and you "noticed" it. From what I can see, you couldn't care less about the impression this leaves on Americans living under Daylight Saving Time. We all know this is just pure laziness from the owners and admins of Reddit.

Don't you think it's reasonable to notify someone in charge? Or at least give us an answer here—those of us actually interested in why it's such a massive chore to click a single button in the admin panel to adjust for DST? Or, worst case scenario, admit you don't even have the answer?

The admins are already fully aware of what’s going on over at PŽK, but as a mod, my hands are tied—I can't just wave a magic wand and fix it. The best I can do is suggest some solid settings tweaks, though obviously, that won't do much for any unregistered users out there.

Right now, the Reddit administration has plenty of bigger fires to put out than worrying about how the time is displayed...

Fine. Thanks for the answer. 🙂

Reddit administration currently has much bigger problems to deal with than how time is displayed...

🙂 (and we all agreed it was just "one single little click"). I won't argue that this should be their top priority. There's no point.

The vBulletin Options > Date and Time Options section is basically where you decide how dates and timestamps actually show up across different parts of the forum. It’s all about controlling the behavior and layout of those time settings.

Daylight Savings Toggle
If the current time zone is observing Daylight Savings, you'll want to flip this on so guests aren't seeing totally wonky times on posts or scheduled events. I guess it doesn't really touch registered users, though—they handle their own DST preferences within the User CP. Just a heads-up, though: this isn't an automated thing. You'll have to remember to manually toggle it whenever the clocks shift twice a year.

🙂
