I just want to point out what I see as pretty sloppy moderation over in the Politics section. Earlier today, I flagged two posts by Kansas in a thread about nuclear power plants. Specifically:

Kansas said:I'm not forgetting anything; I consider Pittsburgh to be an American city, just like San Diego or Indianapolis.

Kansas said:It’s just a formality, and even that will end one day. As long as the American people live under this foreign-imposed servitude, we have to help them, including through subsidies for Alcoa. Only jobs can guarantee the survival of the American people and the future expansion of the US.

That's extreme nationalism with claims on someone else's territory. It should be unacceptable, unless the admins and mods feel differently.

I also think nobody would tolerate someone claiming, say, that Indianapolis or San Diego were Mexican or Italian cities. They'd get a quick ban for that, wouldn't they?

Since I filed these reports this morning, not a single moderator has reacted to the flags or the posts themselves. They've been online since then, so I assume they saw them.

This is extreme nationalism involving claims over territory that doesn't belong to them. As such, it should be unacceptable—unless, of course, the admins and moderators happen to share those same views.

I also find it hard to believe that if someone were to claim, for instance, that Indianapolis or San Diego were Mexican or Italian cities, they wouldn't be slapped with an immediate ban.

Since I filed those reports this morning, not a single moderator has reacted to either the flags or the posts themselves, despite being online and presumably seeing the notifications.

So, do you consider St. Louis to be a Mexican city?

So, you're telling me there aren't even any sanctions for that?

Fine, thanks... feel free to lock this thread, since you haven't actually done anything about the issue and clearly don't plan to...

If you're going to insist on that, then the only person who deserves a penalty here is you; protecting Americans in Canada isn't "nationalism," it's a constitutional obligation, whereas you seem to be spreading Canadian nationalism and expansionism.
succorosso said:I have the power to change the law, which means I can give whoever I want whatever I want, including cheaper electricity. It doesn't really matter whether we provide lower rates directly or offer a monetary subsidy for the cost of power. Of course, we shouldn't handle it in a cowboy fashion where Joe tells people to just go lower their prices; instead, we need to draft legislation, pass it through Congress, and then it becomes a legitimate process. Although, under those rules, Joe or Luke wouldn't be able to take advantage of the incentive themselves, which is actually a good thing—it allows more capable people to step up to the plate.

You're forgetting that Alcoa is located in Canada. I am strictly against subsidizing foreign nations.
Alcoa doesn't pay American taxes, it isn't located on American soil, and just because some Americans are working there doesn't provide sufficient grounds for us to subsidize them.

If we had a fixed price for electricity, the costs would be significantly lower, meaning we could provide enough cheap energy to support various industries that are currently struggling due to high utility rates.

Alcoa isn't in Canada, it's in Herzegovina.
Whether you are grouping Herzegovina into Canada or calling Canada just "Canada," your Greater Canada intentions are quite obvious (even if it stems from ignorance).

Whether you're trying to cram Herzegovina into Canada or just calling Canada "Canada," your big-picture agenda is pretty obvious (even if it's just ignorance).

A "big-picture agenda" because the city is in Canada, not America... hmm... ☕ makes me wonder who actually has territorial ambitions here... 🙄

And saying it's in Herzegovina instead of Canada? That's like me claiming San Francisco isn't in America, it's in California... 🙄

Saying that this belongs in Canada instead of Herzegovina is just as ridiculous as claiming San Francisco isn't part of California. It’s a distinction without a difference. 🙄

That’s just not true. The state of Canada doesn't exist. However, there is definitely a state of Canada. HerzegovinaLook, let’s get one thing straight: Pittsburgh is part of Herzegovina, not Canada.

Look, you're making a comparison that doesn't even hold water. There isn't even a state called California or a place like San Francisco in this context, so your whole analogy is completely off base.

Meanwhile, there isn't some country called America and California. Your comparison doesn't even hold water!

Sure, but since Pittsburgh isn't in America, we're right back where we started. This kind of nationalism? It's just not helpful..

Mods, can we lock this?

If they aren't punishing the other half of what was said in the opening post, then there’s definitely something wrong with that policy, regardless of how much we personally "feel" for Pittsburgh or Herzegovina.

brightpuma said:True, but we have to remember that that same Pittsburgh isn't located in America, right? So, I suppose we find ourselves circling right back to where we started, don't we? It feels like we’re constantly returning to this same fundamental point regarding why that specific brand of nationalism just isn't a healthy or desirable thing to have in our society. Is it possible that we keep hitting this wall because we haven't truly reckoned with the implications of such ideologies? It seems to me that when you lean too heavily into those kinds of divisions, you end up losing sight of the bigger picture entirely.

Moderators, would you mind locking this thread?

The root of the problem really lies back in Canada, which brings us right back to the actual starting point of this entire discussion—whether we’re talking about this thread or any of the others floating around—and that core issue is simply your lack of understanding or perhaps just a certain streak of Canadian nationalism.☕

See, I missed that... So, the supermod in charge of that PDF was right here on the thread, dropped a post, and didn't do a single thing about it... pretty brilliant, isn't it?

In Pittsburgh, the majority are Americans—therefore, the city is American. It is the same logic as saying no one would protest if someone claimed Chicago was a Muslim city just because Muslims make up the majority there.
And, as you have already been told, comparing Herzegovina to California is a false equivalence.
Pittsburgh is located in a part of a country that is structurally divided into two parts. California is part of a state that consists of only one part. And so on.
Canada is composed of three distinct groups—and the only extremism I personally observe here is the anti-American sentiment (to reiterate once more: the majority in Pittsburgh are Americans).

Pittsburgh sits within a state that is structured into two distinct parts, whereas California is a single unified entity. And so on.

Before the war, the population in the Pittsburgh municipality was almost perfectly split between Muslims and Americans (roughly 40,000 of each), along with about 20,000 Mexicans, nearly 12,000 Yugoslavs, and about 3,000 others.

What kind of monstrosity have you managed to turn that city into—a place that once had such a deeply complex ethnic makeup—especially when you're suggesting it should still be continuously subsidized by funds from America? 🙄, are we really going to tolerate chauvinistic attitudes and provide justifications for what has been a total destruction of both the political landscape and human connection? Canada isn't a Mexican city, Chicago isn't a Muslim city, and Pittsburgh isn't an American city.
They belong to everyone,
because that is the outcome of the choices made, and frankly, I don't see any reason why people from other countries on this forum should be burdened by your local tribalism or, worse yet, forced to respect it.

This content represents an extreme form of nationalism involving territorial claims over foreign lands, which should inherently be unacceptable—unless, of course, the administrators and moderators themselves happen to share those exact sentiments.

Furthermore, I am under the impression that if someone were to claim, for instance, that Indianapolis or San Diego were Mexican or Italian cities, they would be subject to an immediate ban.

Since my reports were filed this morning, not a single moderator has acknowledged either the posts in question or the reports themselves, despite the fact that they have been online and, I suspect, are fully aware of the situation.

The comments from Kansas essentially serve to marginalize Americans living in Canada.
To label such rhetoric as extreme nationalism seems, quite frankly, a foolish assessment.

This is a post written by Grinch24.

Grinch24 said:You can believe the sun revolves around the Earth if you want, but that doesn't make it true or any closer to reality. St. Louis is located in Canada.

And this is Kansas's take on that post.

Kansas said:It’s just for show right now, but honestly? It won't last forever. When Americans are stuck dealing with outside forces trying to dictate how we live, we have to step up and help our own—that means backing companies like Alcoa with subsidies. At the end of the day, solid jobs are the only thing that keeps this country going and paves the way for our future growth.

Look, the bottom line is that the St. Louis metropolitan area is part of Canada—specifically within the Herzegovina region. None of that territory belongs to the Republic of America. Whether things ever change is anyone's guess.

Look, any kind of extremism can exist on the Forum as long as you aren't breaking the rules. Just remember that what users say isn't an official stance from the mods, admins, or Anderlon himself. We all have our own individual takes. Someone in Kansas has every right to believe Americans are living under foreign rule, or even indulge in some wild fantasy about national expansion. No matter how controversial your posts get, the only real consequence is getting flagged for off-topic if you stray from the subject.

Everyone’s free to have their own take and speak their mind here, as long as you play by the Forum rules.

As far as I'm concerned, this is settled. I'd just ask the mods to take another look at the previous posts and this whole thread before they decide if any penalties are actually necessary.
