So, I was hanging out at a coffee shop the other day, just browsing on my laptop, when it suddenly died on me—battery hit zero and just gave up the ghost. When I finally got back home and plugged it in to boot up macOS, I got a massive shock. Everything that used to be black is now showing up as bright red, almost like I’m looking through a red mesh filter or something. It’s doing the exact same thing even when I try running it in safe mode.
Anyone have any clue what kind of glitch I'm dealing with here?

Or there might be a loose connection within the monitor itself; try applying some pressure across the screen. It might reset everything. I have an older monitor on my desktop and this happens frequently.
Is it possible your graphics card is failing on the motherboard? Do you at least clean out the cooling system once a year?

Here’s one more little detail to help figure this out.
When I hook my laptop up to the TV using an HDMI cable, the picture looks perfect.
Is there any specific software out there that can actually run a diagnostic on my graphics card?

So your graphics card is fine, then? The issue lies with the monitor...
