George Lucas finally dropped the first trailer for that war epic Red Tails we've all been waiting on, and he even gave us a release date: January 20th of next year.

The whole story centers on the legendary Tuskegee Airmen during World War II—you might remember a similar flick from a few years back, but this one looks like it's operating on a much larger scale. The cast is absolutely stacked, too; we're looking at Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Bryan Cranston, Nata Parker, David Oyelowo, Tristan Wilds, Cliff Smith aka Method Man, Kevin Phillips, Rick Otto, Lee Tergesen, Andre Royo, Ne-Yo, Elijah Kelley, Marcus T. Paulk, Leslie Odom Jr., Michael B. Jordan, and Daniela Ruah.

Edit: Looks decent. I just hope they don't lean too hard into the melodrama. Obviously, there’s going to be plenty of heavy-handed lecturing about segregation, but if the action stays sharp, it should still be worth watching. From what I can see, it looks promising.

I can't quite put my finger on why a movie like this doesn't exist yet—though, if I’m being honest, I feel like I’ve seen something strikingly similar before, just from a much older era. It’s as if we're looking at a potential modern remake of a classic.

The preview looks incredible, and honestly, knowing George Lucas is the one behind this just makes me even more impatient to see it. 🙂

is honestly such a massive pile of garbage
the acting is straight-up amateur hour
the only thing remotely impressive is the CGI
those aerial shots of the coastline look totally ridiculous
I mean, it's supposed to be World War II
but you can clearly see modern luxury condos in the background😁

The second I saw that opening scene with the vampiric German pilot, I knew this was going to be a disaster.
And then the next scene hits:
"Oh no, those fighter pilots left us unprotected."
"Their whole job is to watch our backs, but they bailed, and now we're sitting ducks."

Hands down the biggest pile of garbage I have ever sat through in a movie theater. Seriously, I couldn't even wrap my head around the fact that this was actually filmed and somehow made it to a wide theatrical release instead of being tossed straight into a landfill or onto a dusty VHS tape right after production.

I honestly don't even know where to start spitting bile because everything about this thing is broken. It’s so unbelievably, catastrophically bad that I’m not even sure if there are enough words in the English language to truly capture how pathetic this mess is.

The characters? Total two-dimensional cardboard cutouts. A complete disaster. You’ve got Cuba Gooding Jr. constantly sucking on that damn straw and Terrence Howard sounding like a hysterical woman in every single freaking scene while preaching. I won't even dignify the rest of the cast with a mention; it’s too embarrassing.

Everything, and I mean absolutely everything, is wrong.

And oh boy, let's talk about that "evil" Nazi villain—wow, he’s just *so* wicked, you know? He’s about as menacing as a cartoon villain designed for infants under two months old. Yeah, that's how "greatly" he was written. Just purely ridiculous.

The level of pure, unadulterated pathos is endless; you could practically export it by the ton.

The dialogue and the acting are so bottom-tier it feels like the screenwriter was some random amateur and the actors were all just picked up off a street corner.

The fight scenes, the plane flyovers, and all that stuff... totally pointless and boring, ruined by dialogue that kills any shred of momentum and zero actual sense of action.

The plot is painfully predictable, and my disbelief that things could possibly get worse from one scene to the next just kept building until the very end of the movie.

I don't know how many of you actually sat through this, but I'm torn between recommending it just to witness this unprecedented level of suck or telling you to steer clear of it in the widest possible arc.

Rating: a big fat 0 on a scale of 1 to 10. It didn't just miss the mark; it broke through the floor. This movie *is* the bottom of the barrel.

It lasted about an hour before it just shut down on me. I’ll give it a generous 2/10, if you can even call that being generous. Honestly, watching this felt like being stuck in a room with a five-year-old who thinks they understand patriotism; it was just a bunch of flat, one-dimensional caricatures being passed off as actual heroes. It was pure comedy, really.
