With all due respect, ever since that moderator stepped back and finally took his hands off this thread, things have actually started looking up. But now, he’s creeping back in with that same old moderation style that only he seems to understand.

To be honest, before this, the threads were in a total disaster state mostly because of him—always claiming he "didn't see" certain things or making excuses. Once he left the thread alone, it really came back to life. Now, he’s popping back in every once in a while just to hand out warnings (I’ll drop a link so you can see how it goes), because it’s obvious he just doesn't get it. It’s like some things just don't click for him.

Here is where things get messy...

http://www.reddit.com/showthread.php?t=636582&page=164

The posts have already been nuked. Seriously important posts were deleted just because of someone else's spam (which wasn't even punished). Meanwhile, I got hit with a warning for "trolling" as a direct response to blatant spam, trolling, and people systematically mining the thread—even though my colleague paratrooper P. L. therefore claims he doesn't see it. This thread was running perfectly smoothly right up until paratrooper P. L. swooped in.

So, let me break this down and get specific...

A Reddit user, without being particularly respectful, made a supposedly "reasoned" post accusing me of chauvinism, terrorism, and whatnot, without even mentioning the actual topic or providing a single valid argument about it. He always acts like he's the boss of the thread and systematically spams. When I told him that if he doesn't like it, he should find somewhere more suitable for himself... well, paratrooper P. L. handed *me* the warning instead of him, and then all the posts get wiped.

And the people who were actually spamming managed to get exactly what they wanted thanks to the "excellent" work of P. L.

This isn't the first time this has happened, either. It always comes right back to this whenever that mod shows up in the thread again.

Kevin Nelson, you have been issued a ban because no one authorized you to advise other Reddit users to leave the platform—an action that cannot be justified by claiming you were merely trolling another user. The ban will remain in effect, your appeal is denied, and this discussion is now closed.

The warning stands, your appeal is denied, and this conversation is over.

It’s not fair. It’s just like how no one authorized those other users to constantly act like moderators, labeling me and my posts as one thing or another. I was simply responding to a guy who kept obsessing over moderation, my posts, "chauvinism" (supposedly), ad hominem attacks, and so on... all just to spam and derail the thread. You clearly just don't get it. I told him that if he feels that way, he should go somewhere else; I wasn't trying to spam the discussion. Doesn't that guy have a warning button too? He's the one relentlessly spamming the topic.

If I were in his shoes and felt that way, I would have just left. If you were the only moderator here, I definitely would've walked away.

I only spoke up because there was no reaction, so I finally replied. The post directed at me was nothing but pure spam. It had zero to do with the topic or the context.

The weirdest part is that I'm the only one getting a warning for replying to him, while he gets off scot-free. And honestly, I've lost track of how many times this has happened now.

Just keep the warning then. Man, you're the one actually ruining this thread. It's a shame to see all this time wasted.

........................

I don't want to start a whole new thread here (it isn't strictly about P. L., but like I said, I just don't want to open a separate topic)...

I'm not usually one to complain about insults, but I honestly can't make sense of this. I feel like this is something else entirely, and it’s definitely not a small matter.

Someone just writes this cold-blooded crap about my mother, and then nothing happens???

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=3...postcount=4410

I've already formally reported the post twice (the mod was active on that thread afterward and issued warnings to other posts). I didn't react to the insult immediately—I just replied to his point because I genuinely believed the mods would step in once someone started bringing my mother into it. 🤷

My original post was actually a response to his provocation. Up until that point, things were within what you might call an acceptable framework. But then, without even addressing my actual point, this guy brings my mother into it in the context linked above, and there's just silence from the staff.

The whole thing really starts picking up here http://www.reddit.com/showthread.php?t=636582&page=219 and continues onto the next page...

But let me break this down for you...

So, here is how it goes...

First, the guy posts directly to me. I reply, but instead of actually answering my post, he just ignores it and starts responding to other things with basic trolling (this is just one of the many posts like this):

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=3...postcount=4368

Here is another instance where he responded to me:

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=3...postcount=4377

Then... I respond to him. I thought I was being perfectly polite, simply asking why he hadn't addressed my initial post:

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=3...postcount=4381

And then I get this response, which is pure trolling (though based on the links above, he clearly had an answer and was actively participating; he's just trolling at this point):

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=3...postcount=4389

In this one, they are talking about me again—the same person who claims they "don't have time":

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=3...postcount=4392

My response, though now I'm matching the tone of his previous posts:

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=3...postcount=4394

And finally, the controversial insult (on top of everything else):

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=3...postcount=4410

I went into a bit more detail just so you could see the origin of this and understand exactly what's happening and who is behind it. I find it incomprehensible that something like this isn't being sanctioned. Is retaliating against trolling considered the same level of offense as insulting someone's mother??? 😕

Thanks.

By the way... it seems like only people like this are left in that thread. Everyone else has pretty much been chased away. Personally, if this kind of behavior is going to be tolerated, I won't be wasting any more of my time there. People can go ahead and talk about mothers all they want. I'm not on this site to have people disrespecting my parents.

A post full of nothing but insults actually got rewarded, though I suppose the moderators will eventually step in to deal with the rest of you
