What's up with this number?

+12025550198 - just this number? someone tried calling me a second ago and I missed it, but when I tried to call them back, I got a message saying the number isn't in service.

First off... an area code like that doesn't even exist in the US, and besides, there should be ten digits after the area code, not just eight.

What on earth?

Ever since 2009, the 045 area code—along with 044—has been part of Verizon's mobile network footprint over in Mexico.

But it makes me wonder, why does the country code show up as +385, which belongs to America? It doesn't really click for me... maybe it’s some kind of roaming thing? 🤔
