Hey everyone πŸ™‚

I’m looking for some advice on a bit of a headache I’ve run into while trying to air up a tank. Look, I’m fully aware of how dangerous high-pressure air tanks can beβ€”one wrong move and things get uglyβ€”so I’m definitely not trying to play fast and loose with safety here.

Here’s the deal: I’ve got this smaller cylinder that can be charged up to 3,000 psi, with an outlet pressure of about 1,230 psi (roughly 85 bar). My goal is to drop that pressure down to somewhere in the 350–450 psi range, but I’m hitting a wall because I can't find any regulators or gauges that actually fit those specs. 😠

I’ve spent way too much time scouring Google and calling up local dive shops from Florida to California, but honestly? I haven't gotten a straight answer from anyone. It’s been frustratingly vague. I need specifics, like:

1. Which specific regulator or gauge should I be using?
2. Where can I actually buy reliable gear that does this?

If anyone out there has some actual, concrete answers, I’d really appreciate the help. πŸ™‚
Thanks in advance!

Best,

It really all comes down to the specific thread type on the cylinder, you know? You’re supposed to have those tanks certified before you even think about taking them underwater, so your best bet is to just track down the technician who handled the inspection and let them give you the full rundown. They’ll probably point you toward the major brands like Luxfer or even some local specialty outfits they trust.
Another way to play it is to just swing by a local dive shop or a scuba club nearby and pick their brains.

Look, when we're talking about things that actually determine whether you live or die, isn't it better to just ask someone face-to-face instead of guessing over the internet?πŸ˜‰

The tank is already certified. I've got the thread and the matching screws ready to goβ€”I'm just missing the regulator. I've sent out a few inquiries to some scuba shops and I'm just waiting to hear back. Tomorrow I'll drive around town to hit those clubs and shops to check

thanks a ton πŸ˜‰
