So why aren't you blocking them???

I haven't seen a single ad on Reddit in years.
I just rely on the built-in block content feature that comes standard with Opera.

For crying out loud, just block it yourself if it bothers you so much. Personally, I run AdBlock, so I don't see anything. Right now, I don't have it active, and honestly? I think the ads are fine... 😬 Just imagine acting like some kind of Super Admin over it.. 😁

I don't really get why he's even bothering—if you're using Opera, you don't even need an extra extension or addon to block all that junk automatically. Personally, I started using AdBlock on Reddit a few years back and haven't had to deal with a single ad since then.
It would be nice if the entire site didn't have zero clicks on any ads—it’s frustrating when you aren't even allowed to put a link to a non-profit organization in your signature because they label it "advertising," yet I'm expected to just pay for ad space myself. 🙂 🙄
And honestly, I hope the advertisers realize that half the people visiting Reddit aren't seeing their ads anyway. 😬

I just want Reddit to be free of those annoying, broken, and just plain stupid ads. And how would those of you using AdBlock even know what kind of geniuses are working in marketing to make us feel like we need to block them in the first place?

Excuse me? You just install AdBlock and add one single entry: ads.monitor.com. That will only block ads on Reddit and Monitor. And if you actually want to see ads on Monitor, you just add an exception for it. How on earth is that messing up anything else?

I was working on this local site once and the PHP script worked fine on every machine except my laptop.
It was a Windows setup using XAMPP to handle the Linux part.

After like 20 different installs, tweaking parameters, and following God knows how many broken tutorials, the thing finally worked once I just yanked AdBlocker out.

I don't really remember all the details, but I know that was the issue.

So, I’m not trying to waste two days dealing with some other random bullshit. Besides, ads don't bother me anywhere else except here. But here, the layout just breaks and falls apart, and honestly, the sloppiness of the people running this is more annoying than the actual ads.

Like, how lazy do you have to be to try and shove an 800x600 image into a 250x70 hole?
It’s honestly wild. I mean, I think my nephew in middle school could fit a picture in a frame better than this. I wouldn't even be surprised if whoever placed this ad hasn't even finished high school.

I agree with you regarding the lack of substance. However, I disagree concerning the AdBlocker. It functions exactly according to your own settings.

And then I just can't even be bothered to set it up. 😁

Since we're on the subject, you can basically "build" your own custom ad blocker just for this Reddit. Just open your hosts file and toss this line in there:

Look, I don't claim to be an expert on all these software micro-details... but if you can't even block him, and he just shows up occasionally on a random page while you scroll, you're fine. Compared to those other ones that used to fly across the screen like crazy, Guster is actually a dream. 😁
