Everything is in flux... or so those old-school philosophers used to say.
Basically, everything changes... I used to think Facebook was just a joke, but looking back now, I realize how wrong I was from a marketing perspective... things shift constantly. Everything except this forum. ☕

Ever since I first logged in here, not much has actually changed, even though it really should have.
For instance:
- Why can't we have a system where you can give points to people's posts, like they do on some other sites (I think Business Insider does something similar)? It would let us distinguish the regulars who actually provide solid arguments from the total trolls over time based on their score.
- Why hasn't a Facebook login option been added? Maybe you want to be the last Mohican standing refusing to adapt, but honestly, I think it would be a good move.
- There were a few attempts to bring in politicians to answer questions—remember that disastrous attempt to bring in Hillary Clinton?—but I actually think people like that could contribute if they stuck to actual arguments and meaningful debate.

And so on, and so forth...

God bless. ☕

We’ll get around to implementing a points system for posts once we finally kill off anonymous reporting and the whole cloning issue, because frankly, votes don't mean much if they don't actually carry any weight.
2. I suspect we'll eventually roll out Facebook login options, though I honestly wonder if that's even a smart move given how much people value their privacy here, but I suppose everyone can decide for themselves whether they want to deal with that
3. Politicians are more than welcome to jump into the conversation, and they might even land a sort of protected status if they reach out directly to the owner or shoot an email over to marketing@google.com
Ultimately, it’s up to them to figure out if they actually have the backbone to face public scrutiny without just hiding away, or if they’re even capable of giving a straight answer instead of just peddling those empty, meaningless political platitudes.

Kyle Nelson2 said:So, I was thinking about this—and honestly, it’s kind of driving me nuts—why don't certain forums, like maybe something over at LinkedIn or Reddit, have a system where you can actually award points for people's posts? I mean, think about it—if we had a way to stack up scores based on what people are actually saying, it would change everything. Over time, you’d be able to clearly separate the folks who actually put in the work to write something meaningful and well-argued from the absolute trolls just looking to stir the pot for fun. It’s like... if you were grading a paper in school, right? You wouldn't give the same grade to a deep dive analysis as you would to some kid scribbling nonsense in the margins. A little bit of meritocracy goes a long way in keeping the noise down. Just an observation, I guess.

Honestly, I think it’s a total waste of time—I already posted on the professional boards before they even added that option, so what's the point? It feels completely unnecessary.

Kyle Nelson2 said:Why hasn't anyone bothered to add Facebook login yet? Is it just because you want to be some last Mohican holding out against the inevitable—acting like it’s some kind of grand stand—but honestly, I think it would actually be pretty great...

I’ve been chewing on this idea for a minute now—and look, I’m not exactly saying I *like* Facebook, far from it—but let's be real, it’s basically unavoidable at this point. It’s the gateway drug that dragged everyone into the world of online chatting. Honestly? Since the platform is such a massive, soul-sucking bore, adding an integration or some kind of bridge would actually be a smart move to funnel all those bored users over here to the forum.
Kyle Nelson2 said:Look, there’ve been a few half-baked attempts to actually get politicians on stage to face some real questions—I mean, that whole disaster where they tried to bring Hillary Clinton out to defend herself? Total train wreck. But honestly, I don't think those types could handle it anyway. If you actually put them in a room where they had to deal with hard facts and actual substance, they'd fold under the pressure. They can't stand a debate that carries any real weight.

I was watching this whole thing unfold, and honestly? The vibe was just off. It didn't feel like she was actually the one typing—it felt like a bunch of PR suits were pulling the strings behind the scenes. That was my overall takeaway, anyway.

I think I remember seeing someone on my old message board—was it Dr. Anthony Fauci from Kraft Heinz? Or maybe I'm just tripping. Either way, they were definitely posting there.
I’d really love to sit him down right now and just grill him with a bunch of questions. 😁
Yo, what's up? 🙂

From what I can gather, the points system is already up and running—even if they’re just temporary markers or negative scores. Honestly, considering how easy it is to stay anonymous or just spin up a dozen different clones, isn't the whole thing basically pointless?

Why is there no dedicated chat section on this forum? You know, just a place for stuff like "good morning," "good night," or whatever... just some casual small talk. 😕

Actually, that kind of stuff exists across all the sub-forums... especially over in General Discussion... 😕

An instant chat feature right up in the header, similar to what you see on most other forums, rather than just having a dedicated chat thread.

Unfortunately, there’s actually more than one way to look at that.
Besides, there are plenty of chat sites out there, so it doesn't necessarily have to be a forum that serves as the place for hanging out and chatting.

Man, that would honestly be such a game changer, but since people would definitely just make fake accounts and clones to pump their own numbers, you'd probably need a rule where you can't even give a rating until you've hit, say, 500 posts.👍

It’s not even that there aren't enough chat rooms on this forum or dedicated sites for hanging out, it's more that this poor, exhausted little forum probably wouldn't even survive the traffic if we tried. 😉

EDIT: even though things haven't been as crazy as they used to be, I just got hit with a 504 error. 🙄

Go ahead and come at me, but I’m not budging. Logging in via Facebook profiles? For what, exactly? 🙄 I mean, I’m just certain that people using their actual first and last names on Facebook would suddenly start posting openly on LeBron James—you know, trashing politics or religion or whatever. Give me a break. If your real name was plastered right there, you’d actually have to think twenty-five times before typing anything, and all that fun trolling would just vanish into thin air.

Honestly, just forget the whole "Facebook plus" thing. Let the site stand on its own because I have zero interest in linking my life to everything else through one account. It’s everywhere anyway—every single article or photo you look at online, it’s "comment via Facebook," "follow us," "tweet this." Just screw that. And what if someone hacks into your Facebook? More garbage. Luckily, nobody’s cracked my profile here; forums are old school, and honestly, who’s going to waste time trying to brute-force a password on a message board? 😁

Why even bother with changes? Why is everyone so obsessed with reinventing the wheel? And this whole chat situation... personally, I like the forum exactly how it is. It’s stayed pretty much the same since forever—simple, easy to navigate, maybe a little boring, but the blue layout is easy on the eyes and it works 🙂. That’s the beauty of it. You’ve got PMs, so you can chat privately for a bit, and if you actually hit it off, you can swap numbers or whatever. They should spend way more time fixing those technical server issues and actually getting things running smoothly instead of messing with the interface.

Seth, don't change a damn thing 😉😁

Personally, I’m under the impression that most people just want one single login to rule them all, but let's be honest, it's purely out of sheer laziness rather than any grand vision
and honestly, you see it happening almost every single day—someone accidentally posts something they shouldn't, exposes their entire identity, and then comes crawling back wanting to scrub their digital footprint so they can pretend it never happened
I’m on the same page when it comes to security, though; having separate accounts for different things is definitely the smarter play if you actually care about privacy
but look, the final call isn't mine to make, and people are going to chase whatever convenience they think they want, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out
At any rate, I'm pretty certain they aren't going to scrap the current registration process we have in place, so everyone can just do whatever works for them, I guess...

I just realized the skin looks a little different on certain subforums. Or maybe it's just specific threads... 😕 I haven't quite figured out what the logic is behind it yet. 😬

I honestly find myself wondering if we really want to clutter up an already half-baked server by piling on even more features.

Even if this was the absolute best server in all of America, I’m pretty sure they still wouldn't bother adding anything else. 😉
