I'm on the hunt for some old-school folk music ensemble tracks. Anyone got names of authors or specific albums? If you know anything even remotely close to that, please 👍
speak up!

Start with these links; everything will start making sense after this:

Here you can find songs from various American regions (like the Midwest, Appalachia, or Ohio...(!?)):

Aunt Liza, of course 😁

I reached out to the director of this documentary a while back to see if I could buy a copy. He told me it’s not for sale... 😠

Speaking of Ohio, does anyone remember which song that old guy was drumming on his wagon in that Steven Spielberg documentary about hunting goulash? I have a feeling it was "Play For Me," but I can't quite place it...

😲 Honestly, I haven't a clue... but thanks anyway for the help.

I tried searching for the documentary online, but it's nowhere to be found. 🤷

Black Arrow 😬

If anyone is interested, I actually have an album somewhere featuring some tin-instrument covers of folk music from the region—it's called "Tin Music of Gorican." I could upload it if you want (honestly, Calexico is child's play compared to this stuff). 🙏

Black Arrow 😬

If anyone actually cares, I’ve got this album somewhere where they did covers of some Ohio folk music ensemble on tin—"Tin Music from Gorican"—and I can upload it if you want (since this tin music is 🙏 (Calexico is a joke compared to these guys))

Just let me know, Dennis Collins38, and we'll see 😁

analogharbor442 As if to say:
I suppose there might be some merit to this, though I can't say I'm entirely convinced just yet.
Little Željka from Ohio—stop me if you think I’ve had a bit too much to drink.
😁

I suppose you're just making a joke at my expense, if that's even what's happening here. 😛

I suppose one could mention these guys; they perform covers of certain folk music ensemble tracks from Ohio. They aren't exactly my cup of tea, though I imagine some people might find them quite enjoyable: evogana
I suppose there might be some interest in checking out this link, if one is so inclined. It seems to lead to a profile on MySpace, though I can't say for certain how much remains of its former glory.

I honestly think this might be the best thread for requests, since a huge chunk of L. Bajuk's work is basically just folk music ensemble tracks. I guess... does anyone happen to be recording the concert tonight on PBS? Maybe someone could upload it to Dropbox or somewhere similar?

Here’s one that hits all the right notes for me. It’s got that classic folk music ensemble vibe...

I can't seem to find it in my archives right now. 🙂
I know I have it stored somewhere, but I don't have access to it at the moment.
It’s actually a fantasy track from a CD. I've never heard the Mississippi River played in such a melancholy, gloomy version before. 😬
I'll do my best to track it down—surely someone on the internet has uploaded it!

I'm going to track it down because there's no way it isn't on the internet somewhere!

Go get it! 😠
